The Bioanalysis and Biotransformation Department at AbbVie has an opening for an Associate Scientist II position in North Chicago, IL. The successful candidate will be responsible for method development and quantitation of small molecules from in vitro and in vivo samples.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot LCMS systems
  • Quantitate small molecules from High-Throughput ADME assays
  • Develop analytical methods for the quantitation of small molecules
  • Fully document experimental methods and results


Level will commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:
  • B.S. in analytical chemistry (or related field) and 3 years of experience OR M.S. in analytical chemistry (or related field) with no additional experience necessary
  • Demonstrated experience in mass spectrometry
  • Proven method development experience using various extraction, chromatographic and analytical methodologies
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment and an ability to collaborate successfully across other groups within R&D
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Highly motivated and self-driven with the flexibility to quickly adapt to different projects
  • Embraces the ideas of others, nurtures innovation and manages innovation to reality
  • Creates a learning environment, open to suggestions and experimentation for improvement

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven experience operating and troubleshooting Agilent HPLCs, Leap/CTC PAL autosamplers and AB Sciex Mass Spectrometers
