Amgen is seeking a Sr. Project Manager to join our team and work from Amgen's beautiful Thousand Oaks, CA campus. To learn more about this position:

The Sr. Project Manager drives the establishment, implementation, monitoring and improvement of cross-functional, fit-for-purpose processes within the Commercialization framework. Commercialization is an organization of cross-functional, strategic leaders that enable maximization of value of Amgen's portfolio by managing a fit-for-purpose drug development framework and driving cross-functional, globally-integrated processes for strategic planning, results delivery, product & portfolio decision making, and governance. A Senior Program Manager (SPM) in Commercialization leads the sustainment and improvement of these processes and associated capabilities across Amgen's portfolio. A Sr. Project Manager will partner closely with Amgen's cross-functional portfolio and product leaders to drive effectiveness of the Commercialization framework. The Sr. Project Manager is specifically responsible for:
  • Understanding and positioning each business process in the context of Amgen's Commercialization framework strategy and objectives
  • Managing core Commercialization business process and leading cross-functional, high-impact projects to solve for new challenges or improve upon existing guidance related to your respective business process
  • Developing and implementing project strategies to deliver high-quality, high-impact solutions
  • Creating and implementing stakeholder engagement plans
  • Owning the business process map with supporting tools, capabilities, and process guidance
  • Communicating, driving, and facilitating execution of the business process across Commercialization teams
  • Conducting root cause analyses to ensure deep understanding of challenges and opportunities
  • Partnering with cross-functional leaders to identify process interdependencies and solutions
  • Leading and facilitating knowledge sharing workshops with cross-functional product leaders
  • Establishing success metrics and leading indicators to monitor process effectiveness
  • Implementing best practices and ensuring cross-functional alignment and accountability
  • Identifying project issues or resource gaps and facilitating resolution
  • Reinforcing proper decision making according to Amgen's Decision-Making Framework

Basic Qualifications:
  • Doctorate degree and 2 years of Project Management experience
  • OR Master's degree and 4 years of Project Management experience
  • OR Bachelor's degree and 6 years of Project Management experience
  • OR Associate's degree and 10 years of Project Management experience
  • OR High School diploma / GED and 12 years of Project Management experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree or strong demonstration of equivalent combination of relevant educational and professional training experience in leading cross-functional teams.
  • Industry experience in the Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, or other Healthcare-related field.
  • 4+ years' experience in a project management role.
  • Drug Development knowledge with basic to strong understanding of other functions relevant to the position which may include: Research, Preclinical, Clinical, Manufacturing, Commercial and Regulatory
  • Proven record of implementing Project Management tools, methodologies, practices and infrastructure, as related to the Biopharmaceutical Industry.
  • Informed with current biopharmaceutical industry knowledge, news and trends and ability to apply to programs.
  • Independent, motivated, team member with experience in a matrix environment.
