Amgen is seeking an experienced Senior Associate IS Business Systems Analyst to join the multi-site Research & Development Informatics organization at its Capability Center in Tampa, FL. The Sr. Associate will report to the Senior Manager of Development IS. The Development IS team supports Clinical Trial Design and Management and Clinical data Management globally with innovative IS solutions to accelerate and grow Amgen's pipeline of biopharmaceuticals. Travel: Domestic travel up to 10% may be essential.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Supporting the senior manager in monitoring and ensuring the quality, relevance and effectiveness of IS operations. Support maintaining the IS Operating Model, strategy and governance processes conducting IS Leadership Team Meetings, Operating and Financial Reviews.
  • Support the Dev IS portfolio with a team of service leads, business analysts, data scientists and software engineers. Help in supporting investment lifecycle management activities including development of project business cases, financial plans, funding requests.
  • Work with IS leads and PMs to align with delivery timelines, project scope, budgets, risks, issues, decisions, and communications with the respective programs. Ensure all project requirements and/or objectives are documented. Obtain and manage external resources needed for project completion.
  • This role entails the implementation, integration, and support of Cloud based application platforms focused on Research & Development for Life Sciences with a solid understanding of Amgen IS processes including working with GxP validation methodologies is required. This role also involves vendor management activities ensuring that project delivery is on time, on budget, and of a quality that meets business expectations.
  • This position requires extensive hands-on experience with the understanding of PDLC concepts and approaches, ability to manage ongoing system enhancements, releases, and change control process.
  • Gain in-depth business domain knowledge, perform business modeling, facilitate process mapping and business requirements gathering sessions for medium complex and multi-segment business processes, manage client expectations and configure system settings.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree


Master's degree and 3 years of Information Systems and/or Business Analysis and/or Project Management experience


Bachelor's degree and 5 years of Information Systems and/or Business Analysis and/or Project Management experience


Associate's degree and 10 years of Information Systems and/or Business Analysis and/or Project Management experience


High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Information Systems and/or Business Analysis and/or Project Management experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of experience in the Pharma/Biotech industry.
  • 2+ years of experience in implementing applications in AWS or Azure cloud.
  • Experience in integration technologies such as MuleSoft.
  • Understanding of and ability to invoke web services - REST (with RAML or JSON/XML), ODATA, SOAP (with WSDL).
  • Ability to work with internal business clients to understand their business processes, manage scope of work/expectations and suggest/recommend IS solutions.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Agile project methodologies and working in Product teams.
  • Expert skills and knowledge of PM principles, methodologies, project financial accounting, risk management, communications and status reporting, and schedule management.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and conflict resolution skills and ability to identify, assess and resolve business problems/issue/risks and facilitate issue resolution and risk mitigation.
