The Director of Strategic Planning & Operations for the Amgen Thousand Oaks site, "ATO". Site will report directly to the VP Site Operations and play a key role as strategic advisor, self-starter and operations leader across the functions at the Thousand Oaks campus. This position provides critical support by leading site initiatives, coordinating and driving the delivery of goals and striving for excellence in the development of organizational strategy from development through execution to produce organizational effectiveness and process efficiency.

Responsibilities for this position will include the following:
  • Support the VP in strategy development, execution plans and proactive preparation of deliverables
  • Participate on/lead cross-functional teams in support of ATO site strategic initiatives (safety, prioritization & resource optimization, and long-term planning)
  • Identify, lead or contribute to site initiatives/process improvement opportunities
  • Develop and maintain business relationships across multiple cross-functional teams at ATO
  • Support Business Continuity and Crisis Management program for ATO Site, ensuring deliverables are complete and accurate
  • Develop, maintain, and track key strategic milestones
  • Advisor to the VP on key activities and issues
  • Manage and execute daily assigned tasks upon request of the VP Site Operations

Basic Qualifications:
  • Doctorate degree and 4+ years of engineering, facilities, business and/or project management experience within the biotechnology, pharmaceutical or medical device industry
OR
  • Master's degree and 7+ years of engineering, facilities, business and/or project management experience within the biotechnology, pharmaceutical or medical device industry
OR
  • Bachelor's degree and 9+ years of engineering, facilities, business and/or project management experience within the biotechnology, pharmaceutical or medical device industry

Strongly Preferred Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree (MBA or MS)
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Individual can lead and run projects from concept to completion independently, and, at times, in ambiguous environments
  • Quick learner who is proactive and takes initiative and demonstrates creativity and foresight in anticipating and solving complex project issues
  • Outstanding ability to work independently and make decisions/exercise good judgment without close supervision
  • Ability to work in a team/matrix environment, to collaborate and coordinate with internal and external staff at all levels, and to prioritize multiple responsibilities, tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer, organizational and leadership skills and displays strong executive presence
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; negotiation skills, active listening, and relationship management skills
