Position Overview

Reporting to the Chief  People Officer, located in Emeryville, CA, this position is responsible for leading Amyris’ global Compensation and Benefits strategy development, communication, and delivery.  In addition, this position is responsible for oversight of HR Operations including HR Information Systems, data management and compliance policies & programs.

Responsibilities

Compensation & Benefits

  • Leads the design, implementation and administration of compensation policies and programs (base salary, incentive compensation, senior management and equity compensation)
  • Develops and communicates a compelling Total Rewards strategy to enhance Amyris’ Employee Value Proposition. Ensures competitive pay positioning that supports the acquisition and retention of top talent
  • Develops corporate bonus plans, equity compensation and long-term incentive programs that promote value-driven environment and culture
  • Creates effective communications strategy for compensation and benefits programs
  • Prepare Compensation Committee materials.
  • Efficiently manage workflow and deadlines, perform short- and long-term planning, make policy and program recommendations. Recommend/initiate new approaches, policies and procedures to support continuous improvement.
  • Ensure data integrity as well as compensation plan compliance with the company’s policies, procedures and stay abreast of all applicable laws and provide appropriate education to HR Business Partners.
  • Support the development of the Company’s compensation philosophy including job architecture.
  • Conduct bench-marking studies to assess and align internal compensation programs with comparable external pay practices.
  • Proactively monitor all regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., reporting, disclosure, procedures) for compensation and benefits programs (e.g., minimum wage, FLSA, ERISA, PPACA, GINA)
  • Able to effectively partner with and communicate to the Executive Leadership Team on specific compensation/benefits matters. Work closely with Executives, Business Leadership, and HR team to manage, consult, and resolve compensation and benefits issues.
  • Administer compensation programs, including salary structure adjustments, merit and incentive pay and equity programs. Design and implement related communication strategies and timelines.
  • Lead the annual compensation planning cycles; provide expert counsel on the design, development and administration of executive, sales, and employee compensation programs, salary structures, base salary adjustments and short term and long-term incentives.
  • Lead, mentor and coach a highly effective total rewards team.
  • Provides education, mentoring and training to HR staff on processes and professional practices within the total rewards process and will directly interact with all levels of employees.
  • Designs, implements and administers world class Health & Wellness benefits programs
  • Manages broker and vendor relationships. Keeps abreast of domestic benefits laws and emerging trends
  • Supports Amyris’ 401(k) savings plan and administrative committee

Human Resources Operations

  • Oversees all compliance training's, policies & practices
  • Manages, motivates and develops HR team
  • Provide relevant reporting to HRBPs and leaders

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, Management, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or other related field
  • Minimum 10-15 years of increasing Compensation responsibility
  • Minimum 5-8 years of increasing HR systems responsibility
  • Commitment to the company’s values with ability to demonstrate those positively and proactively across the organization in everyday performance and interactions
  • Able to lead change efforts and manage in a fluid environment. Demonstrated experience driving change and leading compensation initiatives, (base, bonus, short-term and long-term incentives) on a global basis.
  • Demonstrated strong financial acumen and experience designing rewards that are aligned to corporate-wide and/or regional objectives
  • Thorough understanding of Wage & Labor laws and Benefits Laws pertaining to the USA and (preferably) to Brazil.
  • Strong knowledge of current market practices and trends in compensation (executive and non-executive) and benefits
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing executive compensation programs including annual incentives and long-term incentives (stock options, restricted stock and long-term performance plans)
  • Knowledge and experience with international compensation and benefits issues and practices (specifically Brazilian) is preferred
  • Experience managing HR Information systems (Bamboo HR)
  • Strong analytical, communication skills, project management and prioritization skills
  • Strong personal work style, even-handed, fact-based, and fair
  • Ability to lead, and work collaboratively and successfully with senior management and HR to generate high degree of respect and build partnerships across functions and organizations
  • Certifications in Compensation planning including Benefits highly desirable
