We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as a Manager, Facilities Operations. Reporting to the Associate Director of Facilities Engineering, you will manage and oversee the maintenance program to support to support a commercial biotechnology facility in Frederick, Maryland that includes all units required for clinical and commercial bio-processing.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Supports the design, start-up, and commissioning and qualification of the site's facility, utilities and engineering business systems required to support a green field cell therapy manufacturing facility.

. Managing the staff, resources and the operations of the Maintenance group.

• Proven track record with developing Maintenance Services

• Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to influence others without direct authority.

• Demonstrated superior communication skills, both oral and written.

• Provide expertise to support the repair and improve the reliability of manufacturing equipment and systems.

• Working with EH&S to ensure a safe work environment and ongoing programs

• Manages staff of Maintenance technicians. Coaches and develops extended team members as necessary to assure common understanding of proper control and operation of utilities, facilities and laboratory equipment.

• Demonstrated ability to learn and apply various business practices, and able to quickly become adept at using the Blue Mountain RAM - CMMS

• Applies advanced technical experience, skill and performance to the oversight of multiple projects, to achieve strategic goals through providing Subject Matter Expertise on Maintenance services.

• Works cross-functionally and consults frequently with Manufacturing, Engineering, R&D and Quality

• Document Maintenance Process/Services from a Quality perspective and ensure compliance to Kite policies and procedures.

• Creates Reports and monitors trends

• Presents the maintenance program to auditors from the FDA, other regulatory agencies, and certifying bodies

• Supports qualification and validation activities which ensure compliance of Kite facilities and equipment

• Draft SOPs and identify tasks as required

• Select and manage Maintenance support vendors and contractors

• Support all Quality Assurance programs including Change Control and Observation Reports

• Process and approve Maintenance group purchasing activities

• Draft and work within department budget


• 6+ years progressive relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry and a BA or BS degree or a MS degree and minimum 6 years of relevant experience.

. Experience work on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, boilers, water systems and compressed gases

. Certified Green Belt, or similar is a plus

• Proven people management experience

• Proven operational management experience in a facilities function.

• A working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems

• A working experience should include 6 years in Maintenance program / project management

• 5+ years experience in managing people, programs and/or budgets

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• The ability to multitask and exercise good judgment

• The ability to work in a fast pace environment and maintain a high level of customer service

• Detailed oriented with good follow-up skills

• Planning and purchasing experience in a manufacturing and laboratory environment

• Extensive experience in the GMP industry, knowledge of CFR 21
