Job Details
The Vaccine, Immunity and Cancer Program investigates immune responses to vaccines in preclinical and clinical studies, with a focus on HPV.
KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES
The Vaccine, Immunity and Cancer Program is looking for Research Associate II to conduct immunological testing of samples from human clinical trials. The aim of this project is to produce critical reagents and perform serology and other immune assays for assessment of immune responses to cancer preventive vaccines, such as HPV vaccines in clinical trials. The Research Associate II will:
- Optimize and validate procedures and methodologies for assessment of immunogenicity
- Plan experiments and conduct testing of large number of samples from clinical trials
- With limited supervision, design and implement protocols, as well as troubleshoot assays and experiments independently
- Evaluate, analyze and compile data, maintain databases
- Be responsible for routine QC/QA procedures, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment and inventories
- Prepare reports, present data and participate in manuscript and proposal preparation
- Remain current on literature and relevant laboratory techniques
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) in a related field (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education). Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency.
- In addition to educational requirements, a minimum of five (5) years related biomedical experience.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in standard tissue culture and immunological/virological techniques, including: aseptic techniques, cell line maintenance, production of plasmids and virus-like particles, western-blot, ELISA, Luminex assays, virus neutralization assays and PCR
- Experience in immune assay (ELISA, multiplex assays) development and validation
- Experience handling large data sets, statistics, software tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience in laboratories operating under GCLP/GMP/GLP/CLIA
- Experience using robotics
- Experience with electronic documentation systems and LIMS
JOB HAZARDS OR REQUIREMENTS
- Work may involve the use of potentially hazardous chemical or biological materials or may be located in areas where such materials are used
- Candidate will be working with or have the potential for exposure to infectious material(s) or Other Potentially Infectious Materials (OPIM), requiring medical clearance and immunization in accordance with protocol requirements
