The Vice President, Head of U.S. Cell Therapy Marketing (VP Marketing), will provide the vision and leadership necessary to develop and implement the marketing strategy and plan for all of Kite's cell therapy products with the end goal of accelerating the growth of Kite's business in the US.

The successful candidate will be charged with building and executing marketing strategies, which are aligned with global marketing strategies yet customized to the specific needs of the US market, to drive growth and maintain Kite's leadership in cell therapy. This includes creating marketing plans for pipeline assets as well as post-launch, growth phase and life cycle activities for in-line products by advising clinical and R&D teams regarding data required to support positioning, publication strategies, and building scientific share of voice.

The VP Marketing will ensure timely guidance to senior management on key strategic marketing initiatives. He/she will also be responsible for building a marketing team of top talent, and fostering a culture of innovation and teamwork.

This individual will need to understand the unique competitive landscape and commercial model for cell therapy and the distinctive needs of customers, both at a brand and cell therapy operations level, to ensure customer needs are being anticipated.

The VP Marketing will be responsible for maintaining an effective, collaborative relationship with all internal stakeholders, including General Manager, Medical Affairs, R&D, Commercial Operations, and Global Marketing and Market Access to successfully drive business objectives with consistency and contribute toward patient access to Kite's growing portfolio of cell therapies.

Direct, initiate, and oversee the development of effective marketing strategies that are executable, easily communicated, and clinically supported.

Build current and future competitive advantage by understanding & addressing key customers' needs, and by demonstrating deep understanding of competitors' strategies and gaps.

Develop internal and external customer relationships that successfully drive business objectives.

Broaden the Kite/Gilead Oncology network and presence by building and supporting scientific, academic, KOL, payer, and patient advocacy relationships.

Effectively champion and communicate the marketing vision and strategies to all related internal and external stakeholders, gaining support for initiatives along the way.

Establish a productive work environment by creating trust and respect within the franchise.

Create, develop, and optimize the marketing team. Build and develop a team reflecting a diverse workforce.

Position requires excellent communication skills and strong analytical skills to understand market, leverage scientific and financial data appropriately, recognize key issues, establish priorities, and prepare high-level presentations for senior executive staff review.

The successful candidate will be an experienced marketing executive from the biotechnology or specialty-focused pharmaceutical industry with significant hematology/oncology experience and an outstanding record of accomplishment in leading high performing marketing teams. Prior experience in cell therapy is advantageous. This individual must possess strong data and analytic skills to strengthen Kite's competitive positioning.

A solid understanding of the complex regulatory, market access and commercial requirements in oncology, as well as the emerging paradigm for cell therapy is critical. An openness to new ideas and approaches to adapt to the needs of the rapidly evolving cell therapy marketplace and a commitment to operating on the highest ethical level are essential.

More specifically, the ideal candidate will have:

Strong strategic marketing acumen, with sophisticated and proven experience in devising and executing marketing strategies to successfully launch oncology and/or cell therapies, partnering with manufacturing and supply chain to support the commercial distribution model and understanding key financial drivers for oncologists and treatment centers in the US.

Thorough knowledge and solid experience with marketing oncology products, including reimbursement, and lifecycle management by leveraging market research, data, and analytics. Awareness and appreciation of the added complexities of cell therapies required.

Proven success in identifying strategic growth opportunities from a marketing perspective, including experience in business development and in working with strategic partners.

A data-driven approach to market analysis and decision-making, with a strong scientific acumen and understanding of medical needs within a therapeutic area.

Ability to lead by example, attract and develop talent, build partnerships and create a culture of collaboration and high performing teams that fosters open communication, constructive feedback and organizational flexibility.

Strong executive presence and a motivational leadership style that inspires others, conveys confidence, and demonstrates passion for Kite's mission.

Exceptional communication, both verbal and written, and influencing skills. A personal style that enables the candidate to work successfully with various internal and external stakeholders including current and potential industry partners and colleagues at all levels and functions within the organization.

Industry experience: Senior level leadership experience in marketing, preferably within a combination of large and/or mid-sized specialty biopharmaceutical companies.

Product launch experience: Extensive and recent product launch experience, in oncology or specialty pharma, having successfully launched key products/brands and consistently achieving sales growth and market share objectives.

U.S. marketing experience required with strong skills and cultural sensitivity to work effectively with global teams. Demonstrated ability to influence and manage a complex set of internal and external stakeholders.

Builds strong relationships with peers and cross functionally with partners outside of team to enable higher performance.

Learns fast, grasps the "essence", and can change course quickly when necessary.

Raises the bar and is never satisfied with the status quo by asking questions and challenging appropriately.
