We are seeking a highly motivated individual for the role of Director, Portfolio and Performance Excellence to work in this exciting new area of cancer immunotherapy. This individual will work closely with Technical Operations and other Kite functions to ensure clarity of strategy, manage portfolio and performance, and facilitate communication across all parties.

Responsibilities (include but limited to):
  • Work with leadership and key partners to facilitate alignment of integrated portfolio with strategic objectives and performance
  • Establish Tech Ops portfolio governance and prioritization approach
  • Understand delivery status, interdependency mapping, and resource planning of integrated portfolio to optimize timing, sequencing, and resolve collisions and bottlenecks
  • Drive quarterly portfolio review and planning in alignment with financial budgeting and goal setting
  • Engage other functional portfolio owners at Kite to ensure alignment, visibility, and understanding of interdependencies and risks
  • Manage and sustain the CMC Commercialization framework, facilitate CMC governance, and support development of associated business processes
  • Determine and define KPIs for Tech Ops and drive performance excellence by tracking goals, resource forecast, organizational metrics and budgets
  • Periodic reporting of all agreed upon KPIs to enable decision making and alignment
  • Define and build data visualization and analytical tools to conduct performance analysis and reporting across Tech Ops
  • Develop and manage a team of business analysts and project managers
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements:
  • At least 12+ years of relevant experience and a BS in science or 10+ years of relevant experience and a MS. MBA or PhD a plus
  • At least 8 years of pharmaceutical or biotech industry experience in program or portfolio management with a strong understanding of drug development
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of people management experience
  • Project Management certification or equivalent is a plus
  • Knowledgeable with cGMP manufacturing as well as regulatory regulations and requirements for pharmaceuticals and devices
  • Able to express ideas and present information effectively within teams, functions, and with external partners
  • Ability to think critically with demonstrated troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrate active listening and constructive feedback within team, ability to facilitate problem solving, decision making, and issue resolution
  • Demonstrated analytical and technology skills, including proficiency in project planning tools, content management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong program management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are essential in this collaborative work environment
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic, and highly fluid company environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities
