The Global R&D Project Manager works in collaboration with Global Project Team members to develop, implement and manage project plans (global plan and workstream plans as required by the project core team) and their interdependencies.
  • Facilitate the development and implement a comprehensive project risk management approach that proactively identifies project risks and opportunities together with contingencies and plans to support the team in development of solutions to project conflicts and issues (risk management)
  • Use learning and experience from current, previous projects, competitor benchmarking and from the network of Project Managers to support successful delivery (knowledge management)
  • Closely partner with the Global Development Leader (GDL) and Global Project Leader (GPL)or workstream leads to serve as the central points of contact for the team / workstream members to enable the successful operational delivery of the project. When necessary, serve as deputy for GPL / workstream leads

Main Tasks
  • Enable successful project delivery
  • Facilitate win/win solutions for project conflicts with big picture in mind. Promote ideas persuasively and build on the ideas of others.
  • Development and management of project / workstream plans
  • Proactively monitor progress of the plan, and communicate deviations/discrepancies to team leader for the core GPT meeting, specifically focusing on
  • Update plan regularly to ensure data for metrics reporting is accurate
  • Develop and manage multiple programs / complex projects while working to the standards, policies and processes for molecule project management as defined for R&D
  • Serve as the central operational point of contact for team members
  • Ensure that the plan is realistic with the cross functional divisions. Support program / project leader and team to ensure resource, cost and schedule are up to date to enable long term planning (if required)

Risk Management
  • Development and management of comprehensive risk assessment
  • Apply a deep understanding of risk management theory and practice to influence within the team and support them in using risk to communicate effectively with Governance bodies and underpin project strategy and delivery

  • Ability to communicate and work within a cross-functional environment
  • Apply strong communication and influencing skills to impact the team in communication strategy and planning. Apply strong leadership and facilitation skills to manage team meeting and meetings with key stakeholders.

Staff Development
  • Ability to communicate and work within a cross-functional environment.
  • Act as an appropriate coach/mentor to improve performance of individuals within the team and the team as a whole

  • Adherence to IPSEN's Compliance Policies and Procedures and PMO ways of working
  • Comply with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of IPSEN activities. Always follow IPSEN Policies and procedures
  • Actively adhere to a Quality Management System (QMS) that supports GxPs and Regulatory requirements and satisfies all internal quality and external regulatory authority expectations.
  • Ensure project / workstream deliverables are managed to enable completion on time and according to required scope and budget, while applying the practices of an efficient PMO and GDL for cross functional preparation of Target Product Profile and Integrated Development Plan
  • Influence the core GPT to ensure effective and efficient implementation of the cross-functional workstream structure, organization and management to meet the requirements of the GPT (collaborative work with GPL/GDL)
  • Implement an effective reporting and scope change approval to ensure project objectives are clear to prevent project / workstream deliverable scope creep
  • Support workstream to implement a 'ONE IPSEN' approach and work in the spirit of the development powerhouse with a continuous improvement mindset

Experience / Qualifications
  • This is a role that requires full understanding of drug development business processes.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science in addition to a certification in Project Management. PhD is a plus.
  • 5+ years' experience in the Pharmaceutical industry and /or CRO in central and /or local project planning with experience and understanding of the drug development process and project
  • Strong understanding of all phases of pharmaceutical product development. Having managed projects such as Technology Transfer, New Product Introductions, Pharmaceutical Development from discovery through to commercial supply and experience of Regulatory filings is a plus
  • Experience working within a functional area such as clinical, preclinical, CMC or regulatory affairs would be considered beneficial. US / EU pharmaceutical regulations experience would be considered beneficial too.
  • Languages: English mandatory, French would be a plus.
