Position Summary

The Senior Manager Communications position is a generalist communications role reporting to the Vice President North America Communications and Patient Advocacy. The Senor Manager has the exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and execution of the new Ipsen Cambridge Hub internal communications efforts targeting current and newly recruited employees located in Ipsen sites in Kendall Square. This is a strategic, hands-on and highly visible role developing compelling messages and communications platforms that create a positive and motivating environment for employees centered around the company's mission, vision, strategy and culture. The role will be charged with supporting leadership visibility across all sites and driving the organization's transformation efforts through communications strategies, vehicles and activities. The Communications Manager is a story teller,responsible for the delivery of Ipsen corporate messages and reinforcement of the Ipsen brand. Additional responsibilities include local external communications and community relations efforts supporting the overarching corporate goals that increase the company's visibility and enhance community engagement, including building relations with local community groups/organizations and managing local sponsorships. The Senior Manager will ensure the Ipsen brand guidelines and key messages are in alignment with the business priorities, leading the process to draft materials, garner appropriate internal approvals.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Develop and implement a strategic communication plan for Ipsen's North American business activities with a focus on its global hub Kendall Square
  • Contribute and provide input into the broader strategic communications plans developed by the NA Communications and Patient Advocacy function
  • Work as part of a team that strives for Communications Excellence based on set communications objectives, clearly defined strategies, appropriate messages
  • Serve as integral member of cross-functional team on different projects related to the communications and programming
  • Work with functional leadership to understand the needs and challenges at a campus level and partner with all functions / internal stakeholders to develop an Ipsen engagement strategic plan that builds on current efforts
  • Manage internal programs across sites in the Ipsen Cambridge Campus and serve as communications expert/strategist for functions with communications needs
  • Write internal communications for senior leaders and all employees, manage town halls and employee events
  • Manage budget - providing recommendations for appropriate allocation across functions
  • Ensure no typos/grammatical errors in any Ipsen internal messages
  • Create passionate, new, compelling ways to reach and communicate with internal and external/local audiences.
  • Develop metrics and KPIs to measure program success


  • Bachelor's of Science or Arts Degree
  • Journalism or Mass Communications degree a plus

  • Minimum ten years of experience in communications, writing and/or content creation; experience in business writing or writing for corporate audiences a must
  • Excellent communication, writing and editing skills
  • Exceptional project and time management skills with ability to lead and manage multiple projects from conception to completion, execute projects to set goals and gather metrics to measure success
  • Adept at storytelling and editing raw content with a narrative eye, with keen understanding how to create content and tell stories for various channels
  • Ability to work with people at all levels of an organization to complete projects and thrive in a challenging, demanding, and rapidly changing environment with a "can-do" spirit and flexibility
  • Thorough understanding of the regulatory environment and the industry norms
