The Executive Director for Tezepelumab is a critical role for Amgen and the INBU (Inflammation Business Unit). This role will have a significant impact on the launch success and long-term commercial establishment in asthma for Amgen.

The Executive Director for Tezepelumab serves as the US Marketing lead to ensure commercial readiness and a highly successful launch of the first asthma market entrant for Amgen. She/he is responsible for maximizing the value of Tezepelumab in asthma and subsequent conditions by leading the US commercial strategies and implementation for market preparedness and launch.

The Executive Director position is complex, demanding and will require a strong commercial executive with excellent consumer and healthcare-provider marketing and market-creating capabilities, strong analytical skills, superior cross-functional and collaboration skills, and highly effective influencing skills.

As Tezepelumab is partnered with AstraZeneca (AZ), strong negotiating and interpersonal skills are critical to ensure the success of the brand. Success in this critical role will result in significant professional growth and advancement at Amgen.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Shape Amgen's role in the US launch of Tezepelumab in collaboration with the Amgen Global Team and AZ partners
  • Develop and deliver on revenue and expense forecast expectations
  • Define the market opportunity, and assume the role of the in-house "go to" commercial expert in the asthma space
  • Create a highly collaborative and effective cross-functional team
  • Build meaningful pre-launch market demand
  • Achieve highly successful launch execution with rapid market uptake
  • Generate excitement, externally and internally, for the Tezepelumab opportunity for Amgen


Amgen along with our partner AstraZeneca are preparing for a fourth quarter 2021 launch, with that the following responsibilities are anticipated:
  • Set up and co-lead the Amgen/AZ joint US Leadership Team
  • Co-create and communicate commercial vision for Tezepelumab
  • Select and develop high-performing Amgen Tezepelumab Brand Marketing Team
  • Partner with Global Teams on Brand Platform creation
  • Work with AZ to develop and implement US Commercial Plan
  • Responsible for presentations to executives on launch readiness during pre-launch phase and execution progress post-launch
  • Lead pre-launch market-development strategy creation and implementation
  • Collaborate with Global Marketing to ensure harmonious strategic planning
  • Forge strong relationships, team building and cross-functional collaboration
  • Represent commercial interests for lifecycle and value-extension initiatives
  • Define US forecast with Commercial Centers of Excellence (CCOE), Finance and Value & Access
  • Lead collaboration with Value & Access, Pricing and Finance on revenue forecast implications and tracking
  • Develop and manage US marketing outside expense budget


Basic Qualifications:
  • Doctorate degree & 6 years of Marketing experience OR
  • Master's degree & 10 years of Marketing experience OR
  • Bachelor's degree & 12 years of Marketing experience AND
  • 6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum eight years of experience in a series of commercial roles of increasing scope, scale and complexity, with leading companies in the biopharmaceutical or health and wellness industry
  • Experience developing and implementing innovative commercial strategies within highly competitive markets where innovation and marketing prowess are a key factor of success
  • Consumer and Healthcare Provider marketing, strategic and tactical implementation roles, with an emphasis on uncovering novel and motivating customer insights and executing integrated multi-touchpoint initiatives to move an apathetic market
  • Understanding of US market access, pricing and reimbursement environment Experience leading cross-functional teams in a matrix environment; managing projects involving multiple functions and shared accountabilities
  • Respiratory therapeutic area is strongly preferred
  • Experience working in a partnership or joint venture is highly desirable
