Summary:
The Ophthalmology Research Group is seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to be responsible for molecular and cell biological laboratory work and perform animal studies to support a range of ongoing projects. This individual will also be responsible for execution of biological experiments necessary to develop animal models and deliver experimental therapeutic reagents for eye diseases. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be hardworking, flexible, innovative and able to function effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Strong knowledge of molecular and cellular biology, ophthalmology, and genetics is required
  • In vivo experience to develop animal models pertaining to ophthalmic diseases including rodent drug delivery and ocular procedures is also required. Mouse handling and basic procedures (keep records, tissues collection, histology, microscopy and image analysis of ocular tissues), rodent drug delivery and ocular procedures, Perform SD-OCT in vivo eye imaging and functional behavioral tests and ERG
  • Maintain accurate records in electronic notebook.
  • Analyze experimental data and present results in small and large group meetings.
  • Collaborate both within the group and across Regeneron.
  • Statistical concepts and practical data analysis skills with experience in Excel, Prism, Photoshop.
  • Keep up-to-date with literature in current ophthalmology and molecular biology technologies.
  • Candidates must be flexible and be able to multitask while handling shifting priorities

Requirements:
  • The successful candidate will have a BS and 4+ years' experience or MS with 2+ years' experience.
  • Molecular and Cell Biology: RNA and DNA extraction from various ocular tissues, RT-PCR, qPCR, genetic manipulation of cells (plasmid transfection, CRISPR editing),
  • Demonstrated experience : establish and maintain cell culture systems and perform in vitro experiments
  • Proteins: Western blotting, ELISAs and basic Flow-Cytometry
  • Candidates should have experience with MacVector, Microsoft Office, web-based genomic databases (Ensembl, NCBI, UCSC genome browser, etc...)
