The program, strategy and operations lead is responsible for partnering across GQAS&T to facilitate on time achievement of project deliverables, enable prioritization at the project, task and resource allocation level, maintain risk registers and coordinate regulatory submissions. Additional responsibilities include tracking GQAS&T financials and organizational metrics to ensure the value drivers for transformation workstreams are realized.

Responsibilities include:

Enable successful delivery of projects/programs and enhance efficiency of operations

  • Lead planning and execution of Department P1/P2 projects, including support of the newly formed end to end reference standard and critical reagents operations team.
  • Lead project activities including kickoff meetings, recurring status meetings, executive sponsor meetings, reporting, risk tracking, steering committee meetings, conflict resolution, and routine communication with team and sponsors.
  • Develops and drives detailed plans, identifying critical path and timing while meeting strategic intent and achieving key milestones.
  • Manage resources to attain project deliverables and coordinate project communication for all stakeholders.
  • Develop a robust relationship with the GPS PM and OpEx office (PMO) and foster an environment of continual business process improvements within GQAS&T. Execute 1 or 2 major OpEx sessions for GQAS&T on an annual basis (initial task will be to develop a robust communication and escalation process for GQAS&T).

Direct GQAS&T financials
  • Own the execution of annual budget planning and assurance that projects are executed according to the budget
  • Oversee contract review, execution, and archival in accordance with corporate policies
  • Supervise purchase order issuance for CRO activities, as well as invoice reconciliation and issue resolution

Support the analytical CMC team via coordination of regulatory submission authorship and review Support the GQAS&T team on the analytical change control process including the change-over to the infinity platform


Specific Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, etc:
  • Must have industry experience with project management or portfolio management in a highly energized and matrix work environment, as well as PMP certification (preferred).
  • Must have industry experience with financial planning for a larger organization.
  • Prior OpEx experience with larger business operations, as well as Lean certified (preferred)
  • Prior experience leading a matrix teams to achieve common goals (preferred).
  • Must demonstrate teamwork, project planning, strong organizational skills, computer competency, and effective written and verbal communications within both structural and matrix organizations.
  • To be successful in this role, the candidate must embrace collaboration with partners, customers, and team members, while operating with integrity, as well as seeking and participating in the continuous improvement of systems and culture.
  • Prior experience or fluency with project management IT solutions (MS Project, SharePoint, Excel Services, etc.) is desired.

Education/Experience/ Licenses/Certifications:

A PhD in biological sciences, chemistry, engineering, business, or related disciplines with at least 7 years of matrix / project management experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry or a MS in biological sciences, chemistry, engineering, business, or related scientific disciplines with at least 10 years of matrix or project management experiences in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry. Preferably, the ideal candidate will also have business management, project management and/or OpEx training or certification.

Travel: ( only include if travel is required )

-This position requires approximately 25% travel.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

- This role is an individual contributor.

- This position will not have direct reports, but will be responsible to lead within a matrix.
