Pharmacokinetics & Drug Metabolism- in vitro 3D culture (PKDM- in vitro 3D culture)

The department of PKDM within Amgen is dedicated to the discovery and development of safe and effective medicines by elucidating the absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and pharmacokinetic properties of novel therapeutic drug candidates to improve their pharmacological potential. PKDM works in close partnership with disciplines such as protein science, pharmacology, toxicology, pharmaceutical sciences, clinical pharmacology and regulatory to engineer promising clinical therapeutic candidates, conduct preclinical development studies, support clinical evaluation and contribute to IND and NDA filings.

The responsibilities of a PKDM Scientist are to establish in vitro 3D culture platforms and apply these platforms to support Amgen drug discovery pipeline by studying the DMPK properties of drug candidates of a variety of modalities to aid in drug candidate identification and clinical translation.

The scientist will be part of the PKDM in vitro 3D culture workteam and will collaborate closely with other team members, internal cross-functional collaborators and external academia/industrial collaborators. The scientist will contribute to the formation of team goals, decision making on team strategies, and will present internally to department leadership. The Scientist will also be expected to contribute to the scientific community through conference presentations and impactful publications.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

OR

Master's degree and 4 years of scientific experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 6 years of scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 3+ years of postdoctoral experience

Broad knowledge of cell biology and cancer biology, and with demonstrated independent research eminence through first author publications

Specific expertise and a record of publication in cell biology and confocal microscopy

Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Flexibility to work in teams to achieve changing project goals and meet timelines

Proven ability to independently design and execute experiments using cell culture and confocal microscopy technology

Good understanding of Cell Biology, protein biochemistry, Imaging technology, Imaging data analysis using imaging analysis softwares, and data interpretation

Previous experience in 3D culture with hepatocytes, kidney cells, and cancer settings, and, a good understanding of small molecule and large molecule ADME
