We currently have an opportunity to grow your career in our AbbVie Wyandotte Manufacturing facility. In the role of API Operations Manager you will provide leadership and direction for the manufacturing group within the site to deliver the annual volumes of intermediates and API in a multi-shift operation, building a culture of high performance in safety, quality, customer service. In addition to supporting plant manufacturing activities, this position is accountable for implementation of policies and procedures impacting operations across quality, materials management, engineering, and EH&S, manages costs within the area of responsibility, leading department personnel scheduling and development.

Job description

  • Site Leadership Team Member
  • Collaborate with peers and cross-functional partners to synthesize action plans, timelines and budgets to implement ideas to drive efficiencies, adapt and transform the organization to adapt to changing business needs.
  • Identify and lead cross functional initiatives to manage spend, enhance compliance and manage risk effectively for the business.
  • Champion and model exceptional AbbVie performance and talent management practices.
  • Manage the employee relations to ensure that our AbbVie Way is realized, and an environment exists where all employees have the opportunity to develop to their maximum potential.

Operational Management
  • Establish clear expectations with all employees regarding personal responsibilities and behaviors for safety and quality
  • Manage the manufacturing area to meet the site business strategies in line with budget targets and performance standards.
  • Develop a KPI framework to monitor performance. Providing the leadership, direction and planning needed to influence a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Develop and manage staff through hiring, managing performance, developing talent and providing clear expectations through coaching, goals setting and project assignments.
  • Lead cross functional investigations and troubleshooting activities

  • Bachelor's Degree required in a technical field: Advanced degree in a technical field preferred
  • 7+ years of experience, including work as an individual contributor building technical expertise, as well as progressively increasing responsibility and performance as supervisor/ leader of diverse teams in Operations ( Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain , Engineering etc.)
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Business acumen coupled with functional leadership experience is required to ensure effective direction in a complex organization
