Job Details

Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) Department of Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (MAP) seeks a passionate and talented scientist who wants to be a successful drug hunter and contribute to the discovery and clinical development of small molecule therapeutics across several disease areas. The selected individual is expected to represent the Department on drug discovery working groups and early clinical development teams in the area of xenobiotic transporters to address absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion (ADME) and safety issues. In addition, the selected individual is expected to improve drug candidate design and define differentiation strategies from drug transporter (both victim and perpetrator) perspective. Moreover, the individual will develop novel models/assays and undertake mechanistic approaches to better investigate drug disposition involving transporters, which is crucial to our success in optimizing and developing drug candidates and modalities. At BMS, we take pride in applying mechanism-based approaches for the quantitative translation of preclinical in vitro and in vivo data to clinical findings in order to broadly impact drug discovery and development processes. A sound understanding of ADME principles and hands-on experience in transporter experiments are critical to this role. Ultimately, the selected candidate is expected to provide scientifically sound approaches based on integrated data analysis for effective decision-making in drug discovery and drug development.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate should have a minimum of a Ph.D. in drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics or other related discipline, with a sound understanding of transporter function, regulation, and interplay with other drug metabolizing enzymes. This is an entry-level position with 0-2 years of industrial experience. Post-doctoral training is preferred but optional. Fundamental understanding of pharmacokinetic principles is essential, along with some experience in systems used to assess transporter activity (cell culture, bioanalytical). Strong communication skills and the ability to work and collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team are essential for this role.
