Summary
BMS Oncology Discovery is seeking a highly motivated, creative and collaborative individual to play a key contributing role in advancing an innovative oncology drug discovery pipeline. The Sr. Research Investigator will join the In Vivo Pharmacology Group at Bristol-Myers Squibb in Lawrenceville, NJ and aide in the understanding of the in vivo mechanism of action for Immuno-oncology programs as well as set up new in vivo models to address mechanistic hypotheses.
The successful candidate will have scientific and managerial responsibilities for conducting preclinical in vivo research. The ideal candidate will possess excellent knowledge of tumor immunology, experience conducting exploratory research on syngeneic tumor models, and/or xenograft mouse models. As part of this role, the candidate will lead the development of new in vivo models to dissect the mechanism(s) of efficacy of candidate molecules in tumor models. Experience with complex flow cytometry profiling of immune cells is desirable. The candidate will be expected to independently design, execute and analyze experiments and present their work at both internal and external meetings. The candidate is expected to leverage experience and skills to train and coach a team of research scientists. The successful candidate's team will also plan, execute and analyze preclinical in vivo studies interrogating our immuno-oncology portfolio. BMS is a highly matrixed organization and the successful candidate will work well within multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications
A PhD degree with 5+ years of post-graduate research experience in tumor immunology, or a closely related field, is required.Familiarity with drug discovery would be an advantage but not a requirement
Develop new animal models and incorporate new technologies to enable the exploration of in vivo mechanism of action for our therapeutics
In collaboration with Oncology Discovery colleagues, design and plan in vivo studies to interrogate mechanism of action of candidate molecules in therapeutics modulating targets relevant to immune function and/or tumor cell biology
Previous experience in multicolor flow-cytometry (10-14 colors) and experience with TIL analysis and/or in animal imaging is ideal.
Competitive candidates are expected to have a strong track record of independent and innovative research as evidenced by recent first authored publications in top tier peer-reviewed journals.
Experience navigating large genomic and profiling datasets, genome editing technology is ideal but not required
Develop a team of in vivo research scientists; train and mentor colleagues
Collaborate with the Vet Sciences to ensure compliance with BMS and external animal welfare regulations
Outstanding written and oral communication skills is required.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment is essential.
The ability to manage a small laboratory group is expected, including providing growth and development opportunities for direct reports.

This position is located in Lawrenceville, NJ. There will be less than 10% travel.
