Director, Global Pipeline & Business Development Forecasting

The role of the Global Forecasting & Commercial Analytics Organization is to serve as the primary source of forecasting & commercial analytics services within Global Commercial Development (GCD). In this role, Global Forecasting & Commercial Analytics is responsible for providing all Global Brand Teams, Global Commercial Teams and Commercial Business Development Project Teams with commercial analytics & forecasting support. The objective of this support is to determine the value of / help drive strategic decisions related to all pipeline products, on market product lifecycle projects and business development opportunities. The Organization also provides commercial analytical support for all Global Commercial Operations strategic initiatives related to his / her therapeutic area of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• This is a senior supervisory position responsible for leading the Pipeline and Business Development Forecasting Group and GCD finance function including human resource and training/development responsibilities for a team of 9
• Responsible for planning and administering the Organization's annual business plan, establishing and improving forecasting work processes and ensuring overall quality and timely delivery of the Organization's work product
• Be a strategic partner for Brand / Asset / Global Commercial Team Leadership or L&A Leadership with respect to generation and presentation of materials for critical governance and decision-making forums including but not limited to BD Pipeline Committee, PEC, LPLT, DCAF and Long Range Plan / Portfolio Governance.
• Utilize robust analytical and process-oriented skill set with a focus on strategic forecasting and commercial analytics methodologies as well as other technical areas including but not limited to financial modeling, pricing, primary market research and secondary, syndicated data sources.
• Strong knowledge of the business environment for AbbVie's therapeutic areas and possess the learning agility to develop this knowledge within a relatively brief period of time
• Understanding of all aspects of the pharmaceutical clinical and commercial planning process including but not limited to clinical trial design, regulatory requirements / processes, pricing and market access, health economics and brand planning.
• Maturity, judgment and executive presence to effectively support and serve as an advisor to the corporation's Executive Level leaders.

Additional Responsibilities:

• All human resource, budgetary, operational, analytical and training / development aspects associated with leadership of the Pipeline Forecasting Group within Global Forecasting & Commercial Analytics.
• Generating / administering the Group's Business Plan
• Establishing / improving pipeline forecasting work processes
• Ensuring the quality and timely delivery of all Pipeline Forecasting work product
• In partnership with Brand / Asset / Global Commercial Team leadership, the generation and presentation of materials for critical governance and decision-making forums including but not limited to PEC, Long Range Plan, Portfolio and DCAF

Basic:

• Bachelor's Degree: Business, Finance, Accounting
• More than 10 years overall business experience, preferably in a pharmaceutical environment, which includes 3-5 years of management experience leading a business analytics organization.
• Position requires a strong balance of interpersonal and conceptual skills resulting from education and experience
• Proven ability to utilize statistical and modeling techniques to create predictive analyses.
• Comprehensive understanding of the healthcare environment and pharmaceutical industry.
• Familiarity with other technical areas including but not limited to financial modeling, primary market research and secondary, syndicated data sources
• Ability to analyze complex data sets, develop clear conclusions / recommendations regarding business opportunities / challenges and communicate those conclusions / recommendations in a way that is concise, relevant to senior management helps drive optimal business decisions.
• Oversight of the finance function for GCD including responsibility for all financial and accounting activities: budget planning, financial reporting, financial analytics, payment accounting.
• Demonstrated ability to network/partner effectively across functional areas and with varying levels of management in the organization.
• Demonstrated leadership skills to build, motivate and influence teams.
  Proven ability to design and manage multiple tasks concurrently in a dynamic environment within given timelines.
• Demonstrated ability to hire, motivate, and retain a high performing team.

Preferred:

• Master's Degree: MBA beneficial
