Summary

Performs mouse, rat/other animal experiments with standard operating protocols and analytic methods under minimum supervision

Conduct work with high integrity, and critically evaluates experimental results

Promptly reports issues, and mistakes to line supervision

Prepares reports and contributes to manuscripts

Effectively applies new concepts/techniques reported in the literature, and reads current scientific papers related to work

Collaborates with other scientists within the research group to meet group goals and objectives

Handles effectively concurrent assignments

Designs novel procedures and animal models with minimum supervision

Position Requirements

BS in Biology or animal science. BS + 3 years of research experience or more.

Good understanding of basic cardiovascular physiology

Basic understanding of the pathophysiology of heart failure

Experience in mouse and rat hemodynamic assessment via vascular cannulation, and in setting up animal models of pharmacological-induced heart failure

Experience in monitoring blood pressure and heart rate in conscious mice and rats

Experience with various dosing modalities including osmotic implantation, SC, and PO in mice and rats

Demonstrates diversified skills in vivo and in vitro and solves diverse problems in research with minimal supervision

Good oral/written communication skills, statistical and computer skills

Uses time productively and schedules experiments effectively
