Human Resources Leadership Development Program Description

Our Human Resources Leadership Development Program (HRLDP) members will have an opportunity to leverage best-in-class HR practices to continually construct, deliver and support programs that establish AbbVie as an employer of choice. In order to develop your foundational experience with AbbVie HRLDP, your three rotations will include one role in each of the following functions:

  • Business Human Resources supporting one of our functional businesses:
    • R&D, Operations, Commercial, or Corporate Staff Functions
  • Global Talent
    • Talent Management
    • Talent Acquisition
  • Other Centers of Excellence:
    • Total Rewards
    • Employee Relations


By rotating through a variety of HR roles across AbbVie, you will explore multiple areas of interest while further developing your skillset. You will also get experience by working cross functionally in a matrix environment, building your business acumen, and participating in key training sessions. Examples of trainings may include six-sigma, compensation and benefits, leadership, and assessment training.

Upon completion of three customized roles, you will be equipped with a series of experiences that have built your capabilities to enter a role in Human Resources.

Basic Qualifications

  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree in HR, Master's preferred
  • Strong academic performance, minimum cumulative GPA = 3.0/4.0
  • Previous internship or related experience required
  • Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship


Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven track record of teamwork, adaptability, innovation, initiative, and integrity
  • Global mindset to thrive in a diverse culture and environment
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills
  • Analytical and creative problem-solving abilities


Recruitment Process

We participate in several on-campus events (such as: information sessions, conferences, club activities and interviews while on campus).
