Summary:

We are seeking a motivated Scientist with an advanced degree to join the Ophthalmology group for ocular immune and inflammatory diseases. This position will be part of a group responsible for studying pathogenic mechanisms in ocular immune diseases, the identification and validation of drug targets, and for the creation and testing of biologically based therapeutic agents against these targets. This position will work on in vitro and in vivo ocular inflammatory models for the group. This individual will be responsible for the design and execution of biological experiments necessary to develop animal models and deliver experimental therapeutic candidates. This individual will help evsluate therapeutic candidates with In Vitro and In Vivo experiments, and provide in-house technical expertise for interacting with external collaborators on research projects.

The ideal candidate will be hardworking, flexible, innovative and able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment. They will also have excellent communication skills and be able to work well in a team. The preferred candidate will have at least 5 years of laboratory experience.

Responsibilities:

Design and perform cell culture using primary cell culture and cell lines
Design and perform experiments in cellular and in vivo ocular immune and inflammatory disease models
Collect and prepare tissue for histological or biochemical analyses
Cut and stain ocular tissues, perform microscopy & image analysis
Design and Perform cell culture assays for in vitro drug testing and screening
Perform data analysis and prepare study report, and laboratory management duties
Requirements:

This position requires advanced degree, PhD and/or MD with at least 2 years post-doctoral experience.

Experience with molecular biology and biochemistry techniques (preparation of cell/tissue for DNA/RNA/protein analysis, ELISA, Western blots, IHC, imaging)
Five years of experience working with in vivo ocular immunology or inflammatory animal models preferred, experience with rodent ocular disease models highly desired. Strong organization and communication skills.

This position will require the individual to pass a physical before beginning employment.
