Summary
We are looking for a Laboratory Animal Veterinarian. This person assists the Sr Manager of Veterinary Services in administering the veterinary program for animal research and production facilities.

Responsibilities:

• Oversight in the maintenance of a health surveillance and preventative medicine program.

• Assist in coordination activities within Veterinary Services.

• Oversight of import/export of rodents from/to collaborative sources.

• Participate in the "post approval monitoring" program of approved animal use protocols.

• Provide health care for laboratory animals.

• Provide professional services to research staff.

• Provides clinical support for rodent's anesthesia, analgesia and euthanasia to ensure humane animal treatment.

• Assists with training programs for animal husbandry staff, veterinary technicians, residents and research staff utilizing animals.

Requirements

This position requires a DVM or equivalent degree and 3 years of experience in related field, as well as a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience with rodents in a laboratory setting.

Additional requirements include:

• Extensive knowledge and technical proficiency in standard laboratory animal techniques

• Extensive knowledge of laboratory animal medicine

• Knowledge of applicable regulations regarding the proper standards of animal care and use in a research environment.

This position will require the individual to pass a physical before beginning employment.
