Known for its scientific and operational excellence, Regeneron is a leading science-based biopharmaceutical company that discovers, invents, develops, manufactures, and commercializes medicines for the treatment of serious medical conditions. Regeneron commercializes medicines for eye diseases, high LDL-cholesterol, atopic dermatitis and a rare inflammatory condition and has product candidates in development in other areas of high unmet medical need, including rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, pain, cancer and infectious diseases.

The candidate will assist the Dispute Resolution Group with enforcement of the company's IP rights and defense against patent infringement suits, including managing document collection and review and providing assistance to the company's patent attorneys in adversarial patent office proceedings (including pre-grant and post-grant submissions) in the US, Europe and throughout the world.
Because the Law Department is asked to assist in the resolution of disputes spanning a broad range of subject matter, the candidate must have a diverse skill set and be willing to manage and assist general litigation (non-IP) matters. The candidate must also be able to work independently but willingness to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team is essential.

The candidate must be able to advocate the company's position in global patent litigation and administrative actions in patent offices, including overseeing outside counsel and demonstrating a willingness to evaluate independently the advice of outside counsel. Estimating budgets and managing costs are additional responsibilities. The candidate must also work with the company's employees to respond to other requests for legal advice or assistance. The candidate must be able to manage all aspects of litigation, including interviewing witnesses, collecting documents from company employees, and selecting and educating experts on company technology. The position requires excellent analytical, oral communication, and writing skills.

The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of patent litigation experience, either at law firms, in government, or in-house at pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology companies. The ideal candidate must also demonstrate a willingness and ability to learn new technologies.

An PhD degree in the biological sciences (e.g., genetics or immunology) or chemistry is required. Experience with inter partes reviews and reexaminations, registration with the USPTO, and familiarity with international revocation and opposition proceedings is preferred. Admission to the New York bar is also preferred.
