Job Summary:
This position calls for a multi-faceted and innovative Medical Graphics Specialist/Expert who is data driven, has extensive expertise understanding and translating biological and clinical data into impactful and scientifically meaningful presentations and other visualizations, has the ability to curate libraries of such presentations, and can oversee graphic vendors. The Medical Graphics Specialist/Expert will support clinical and scientific stakeholders and Executive Leadership by creating, in a timely and efficient manner, high quality figures, graphs and interactive presentations from research data for purposes of slide and poster presentations and journal submissions. In this process, this individual will curate existing as well as newly created libraries of data presentations. This person will work independently; if needed, he or she will hire and manage external graphics vendors. Prior experience working with biological/clinical/pharma/biotech scientists is required.
Job Responsibilities:
- Partner with Medical Affairs and Global Clinical Development scientists and other R&D stakeholders, including Executive Leadership, to develop figures, graphs, and interactive presentations of biological and clinical research data. The output will include slides and posters for presentations to external scientific audiences (study investigators, Medical congresses, scientific journals, etc.,) and internal scientific audiences. Additionally, will share expertise, provide advice, and educate internal stakeholders on their own graphic needs.
- Organize, maintain, and archive accurate and complete files of all created presentations into curated libraries. In addition to this responsibility, will own and curate relevant preexisting libraries of data presentations
- Liaise with stakeholders on project timelines and assist with project planning from concept to approval of materials. Prioritize and successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously, while tracking all activities and providing periodic updates to stakeholders. Ensure the timely delivery of quality graphics to meet stakeholder objectives
- Will work independently. However, management of external vendors and free-lance graphics experts may be required for this position; for this reason, some experience creating budgets and hiring and managing graphics experts would be helpful
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred
- 5-10 years of graphics experience in the areas described above, some or all of which should have been in the pharma/biotech industry
- Expertise in converting complex clinical research data into impactful graphics (figures, graphs, slides, posters and interactive presentations from scientific data)
- Expertise in design, layout, etc., required for creating slides and posters
- Basic understanding of clinical research and statistics
- Prior experience of working on graphics projects with scientists in a biological/clinical/biotech/pharma environment
- Strong organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Innovative thinker with the ability to initiate and complete projects independently
- Team player with excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience creating budgets and managing graphics experts is preferred
Required Special Equipment and/or Programs:
- Expertise in software for generating figures, graphs and slides such as: Microsoft office (Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Creative Suite (In-Design, Illustrator and Photoshop, etc)
