Job Details

The Purchasing Manager will ensure high quality goods and services are acquired at the best possible prices through negotiations and monitoring supplier requisitions and contracts. They will lead continuous improvement initiatives for effective sourcing practices, ensuring increased investment efficiency of spending for fair value and service accountability. This role will also manage the purchasing team and activities from requisition to final PO, strengthening support and collaboration with the various staff and leaders of departments across the organization.

Who is Omeros?

Omeros is a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company committed to discovering, developing and commercializing small-molecule and protein therapeutics for large-market as well as orphan indications targeting inflammation, complement-mediated diseases and disorders of the central nervous system.

The company's drug product OMIDRIA® (phenylephrine and ketorolac intraocular solution) 1% / 0.3% is marketed in the U.S. for use during cataract surgery or intraocular lens (IOL) replacement to maintain pupil size by preventing intraoperative miosis (pupil constriction) and to reduce postoperative ocular pain. In the European Union, the European Commission has approved OMIDRIA for use in cataract surgery and other IOL replacement procedures to maintain mydriasis (pupil dilation), prevent miosis (pupil constriction), and to reduce postoperative eye pain.

Omeros has multiple Phase 3 and Phase 2 clinical-stage development programs focused on: complement-associated thrombotic microangiopathies; complement-mediated glomerulonephropathies; Huntington's disease and cognitive impairment; and addictive and compulsive disorders. In addition, Omeros has a diverse group of preclinical programs and a proprietary G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) platform through which it controls 54 new GPCR drug targets and corresponding compounds, a number of which are in preclinical development. The company also exclusively possesses a novel antibody-generating platform.

What are your job responsibilities?

Managing the overall Purchasing function of the company, your responsibilities will include:

  • Work with functional departments to determine upcoming needs and procure services and supplies as needed; collaborate with internal departments on opportunities to achieve optimum quality and cost
  • Develop and execute strategic procurement activities to constantly improve the overall effectiveness
  • Evaluate needs to insure adherence to financial obligations and commitment dates
  • Establish and maintain strong and resourceful relationships with vendors
  • Champion vendor performance by using proven negotiation strategies, closing deals with optimal terms
  • Review agreements and make recommendations to mitigate business and contractual risk
  • Responsible for the supplier/vendor selection process
  • Manage overall purchasing function including personnel and establish purchasing department goals, metrics and work plans to meet operational objectives
  • Perform root cause analysis when issues arise and implement action plans to prevent further occurrences
What education, experience, skills, and knowledge do you need?
  • Bachelor's degree in business management or equivalent work experience
  • 5-8 years' experience as a Purchasing Manager and manager of staff
  • Bio/Pharma or Life Sciences industry experience is a plus
  • Experience negotiating complex services and supplies contracts including contract review
  • Excellent written and verbal skills and the ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Oracle experience is a plus
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must display strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced negotiation, dispute resolution and influencing skills
  • Excellent research skills
