Purpose of Position:

The Sr. Innovation Chemist is responsible for new and innovative chemistry primarily focused on oligonucleotides.

He/she develops processes and methods for the synthesis of new and existing oligonucleotide products by using a Micro Reactor system and measures chemical reaction kinetics, residence times, and reagent usage in a small scale.

Develops innovative and new chemistry around oligonucleotide chemistry.

Participates in the testing and implementation of new synthesis, technologies, and procedures of the TIIM projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Chemist for novel process synthesis (exploration of new chemistry for Oligos): Design and execute laboratory experiments for research and development projects in TIIM focused on oligonucleotides.

Function closely with the Process and Analytical Lead of the TIIM group.

Write technical documents such as test methods, SOPs, protocols, and reports.

Ensure compliance with all applicable cGMP, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders.

 

 

Job Experience and Knowledge Required:

Degree in Chemistry or related field. PhD with 3+ years, MS with 7+ years, or BS with 12+ years of related work experience.

Chemistry and process knowledge around oligonucleotide.

Competency with common synthesis reactions

Competency in analytic chemistry (HPLC, UPLC, and LC-MS).

Competency in chemical process engineering.

Ability to effectively communicate in English both verbally and in writing.

Basic and advanced mathematics including algebra and statistical data analysis proficiency.

Ability to keep detailed records, and competently peer-review chemistry data and results.

Ability to perform method development, qualification, verification, validation, and transfer activities in support of pharmaceutical product development.

Ability to resolve complex non-routine problems requiring in-depth evaluation of data and factor analysis, including leading scientific investigations.

Ability to think strategically and conceptually to properly design experiments and analyze chemical reactions.

Functions as a subject matter expert in the department.
