Job Details
The Strategy Director will have three main responsibilities: i) Lead all or part of a cross-functional, strategic projects (e.g., evaluation of an M&A opportunity, new business proposals) sponsored by Amgen's leadership, as a project manager, ii) Drive activities / work streams on strategic planning/ management and annual strategy review processes, and iii) as needed, take on independent analyses of industry trends and developments.
Basic Qualifications
Doctorate degree and 4 years of Strategy and/or Business Development experience
OR
Master's degree and 7 years of Strategy and/or Business Development experience
OR
Bachelor's degree and 9 years of Strategy and/or Business Development experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate degree in life sciences, medical, or finance in combination with an MBA
- 10+ years' experience in biotechnology / pharmaceutical industry and / or top tier Management Consulting and / or Investment Banking firms
- Excellent conceptual problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to bring structure to vaguely defined problems, pragmatically scope problem solving approach, and manage execution
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytic skills, including financial analysis
- Robust knowledge of biopharma industry (i.e., science / medicine, R&D-manufacturing-commercial processes, interplay among various stakeholders in the industry, awareness of trends and recent developments) and ability to research / learn/ synthesize findings on new topics
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills and a decisive yet affiliative leadership style to drive results while maintaining relationships
- Strong presence with Senior Executives including ability to communicate effectively on a prepared and ad-hoc basis
- Strong influencing skills with a demonstrated ability to influence different styles and individuals at different levels in organization
- Proven experience as a member and leader of a high performing team
- Demonstrated organization management experience including developing and mentoring staff
