Summary

We are seeking a Research Scientist to join our Compound Management team within the Leads Discovery & Optimization (LDO) group at our state-of-the-art facility in Cambridge, MA. The LDO group leverages technology, innovation, and broad scientific knowledge to deliver comprehensive in vitro data packages to support all phases of drug discovery at BMS. The Compound Management Scientist will be responsible for executing the day to day procedures necessary to accomplish the business critical function of Compound Management in support of our sample processing operations. The candidate is expected to operate automated laboratory equipment, including liquid handling equipment for the fulfillment of multiple order types within Compound Management. Responsibilities include ensuring that the sample processing schedule is aligned with assay operations, quality control of instrumentation, utilization of inventory management software and communication with the scientific community. In addition, the candidate will facilitate and implement laboratory equipment purchases and evaluate manual process workflows, scout technology and develop appropriate and cost effective solutions to meet portfolio requirements.

Position Requirements

Bachelor degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering or a related field, with 3-5 years of relevant experience in compound management, high throughput screening and/or lab automation

Hands on experience with common laboratory operations, liquid handling equipment (TECAN EVO) and automated plate-based equipment (HighRes Biosolutions).

Experience in Titian Mosaic inventory management software and operation of automated compound storage and retrieval systems.

Familiarity with chemical or biological information systems, database querying and/or data analysis is required.

Basic understanding of primary pharmacology assay development and compound screening is preferred.

Demonstrated problem solving skills.

Strong oral and written communication skills.
