Job Summary:

The Director, Compensation will develop and execute compensation philosophy, strategy, and programs which enable the company to attract and retain talent critical for business in DSI. The Director, Compensation provides strategic and tactical compensation consultation to the Human Resources Department and senior leaders, a part of which includes providing information and implication on competitive landscape of US pharma market from compensation point of view, especially in Oncology area so they are incorporated into talent strategy and financial aspects. Evaluates compensation related practices, and makes program and policy recommendations to meet identified organizational and financial objectives. The Director, Compensation manages the job evaluation process, base salary administration, variable pay design and administration, recognition programs, and Executive Compensation.

Responsibilities:
  • Develops, implements, communicates and interprets corporate compensation philosophy, domestic and global market strategy, and salary administration practices. Manages, develops and evaluates effectiveness of compensation programs and services. Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations. Researches and recommends severance and change in control provisions.
  • Oversees the job evaluation process, ensuring a consistent methodology. Evaluates and selects salary surveys for participation. Oversees the survey submission process. Oversees maintenance of market pricing online tool. Develops market analysis assumptions for market adjustment template. Oversees market analysis for individual employees or groups. Oversees development of new hire offers.
  • Responsible for short and long term incentive design, eligibility and targets, measures and payout mechanics. Oversees DSI SAR and RSU plan administration, including online administration vendor management.
  • Oversees Arigato recognition program, including program design and policy, administration, training and communication and vendor management.
  • Oversees the annual recommendation process for base salary and incentive targets for multiple Sales forces and Account Management positions, hiring and promotional increase ranges. Analyzes competitive market position of sales total cash compensation and recommends changes.
  • Oversees the annual compensation review process. Analyzes and recommends salary increase budgets, reward matrices and performance modifiers.
  • Ensures that compensation programs are understood and communicated to all employees. Oversees the development and delivery of training on compensation related topics.
  • Participates in evaluation and enhancement of performance management system and processes to ensure congruence with salary administration. Recommends target reward ranges for performance categories.
  • Responsible for Executive compensation and perquisites. Conducts market analysis to recommend base salary, short term and long term incentive targets, and perquisites for Executive positions.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:
  • Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; BA/BS degree in Business Administration, Economics or a related field. Master's Degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in compensation of an advanced nature, with a minimum of 3 years management experience supervising the work of Compensation Professionals. Expert knowledge of job evaluation techniques, incentive design and salary administration policy formulation.
  • Pharma experience, especially in Oncology therapeutic area, is strongly preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication, project management, and internal consultation skills.
  • Strong analytical ability, including the ability to utilize statistical and financial analysis tools. Ability to synthesize complex information into meaningful data
  • Strong knowledge of compensation theory and practice.
  • Expert knowledge of employment laws, and state and federal laws and regulations related to compensation and wage and hour compliance.
  • Strong business partnering skills and ability to influence middle and senior management.
