We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate Scientist to join the Inflammation and Oncology Research Therapeutic Area at Amgen in South San Francisco to drive the discovery research and validation of novel targets in inflammatory and autoimmune disease and cancer for the development of innovative medicines.

The Sr. Associate Scientist will be an integral member of a dynamic research team, collaborating with research scientists at multiple Amgen sites, and working closely with groups in other functional areas including Therapeutic Discovery, Medical Sciences and Computational Biology.


In this position, the individual is expected to make major scientific laboratory-based contributions to the research goals and milestones of the Inflammation and Oncology therapeutic area. Specific responsibilities include planning and performing laboratory experiments, preparing and analyzing biological samples, analyzing data, presenting results in both internal and external forums, and participating in the writing of manuscripts for publication communicating results.

Basic Qualifications

Master's degree and 3 years of scientific experience


Bachelor's degree and 5 years of scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications

PhD degree to be conferred no later than August 2019

PhD degree with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Immunology, T cell biology, multi-color flow cytometry, isolation and culture of primary immune cells from human and mice, in vivo animal models of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases and cancer, establishing complex cell-based assays, single cell analysis, and bioinformatics analysis
