The Department of Oncology at Amgen in South San Francisco is seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate Scientist to perform research studies aimed at elucidating mechanisms of immune-mediated regulation of tumorigenesis in order to develop novel immunomodulatory therapies for the treatment of cancer. Opportunities are also available to contribute to research projects relating to immune tolerance in the context of autoimmunity. The Sr. Associate Scientist will be an integral member of a dynamic research team, collaborating with research scientists at multiple Amgen sites, and working closely with groups in other functional areas including Inflammation, Therapeutic Discovery, and Medical Sciences.

Responsibilities:

Make major scientific laboratory-based contributions to the research goals of the department, present results in both internal and external forums, and participate in the writing of manuscripts for publication.

Planning and performing laboratory experiments, analyzing data, and communicating results.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree or Doctorate degree by October 2019

OR

Master's degree and 3 years of scientific experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 5 years of scientific experience

OR

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD degree with expertise in one or more of the following areas: multi-color flow cytometry, isolation and culture of primary cells, myeloid cell biology, in vivo models of cancer and/or inflammation, establishing complex cell-based assays, bioinformatics analysis
