Job Summary

Engineering is responsible for planning, design, construction, technical services, operations, maintenance and support of Amgen's world-wide infrastructure. The Sr. Manager of Site Planning reports to the Director, Strategic Planning and Operations and is responsible for the leading multiple cross-functional teams to develop and maintain Operations site plans globally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Site Planning
  • Build key partnerships- Global Workplace Solutions (GWS), Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Engineering, Finance, HR, and IS
  • Lead information gathering efforts with key stakeholders and business partners to ensure all appropriate data is considered
  • Work closely with GWS and Engineering business partners to develop space scenarios and gather technical input
  • Develop and maintain Operations site master plans
  • Distribute and provide clarification to execution teams
  • Participate in ILM meetings
  • Project Initiation
  • For one-off capital requests that are not listed in the master plan, ensure involvement of Engineering Front Planning team in all scenario planning to gather feasibility, budget and schedule estimates
  • Participate in Engineering Front End Planning team
  • Update master plans as needed
  • Engineering Departmental Space Planning
  • Act as single point of contact for all Engineering space requests including contractor workforce
  • Work with GWS to ensure Engineering's space requirements and actuals are accurate
  • Other- Support productivity initiatives by proposing alternate standards - both look/feel and technical - which meet functional requirements but more cost effective


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Engineering, Supply Chain or Manufacturing experience

OR

Master's degree and 6 years of Engineering, Supply Chain or Manufacturing experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 8 years of Engineering, Supply Chain or Manufacturing experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of Engineering, Supply Chain or Manufacturing experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Engineering, Supply Chain or Manufacturing experience

AND

2 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with asset lifecycle including design and construction
  • Experience with long range planning
  • Certified Project Management Professional
  • Masters in Business Administration or Advanced Degree in Engineering or Architecture
  • 7 + years experience working in engineering, manufacturing, supply chain in or outside of Amgen.
  • 2 + years experience in engineering in biotech / pharmaceutical industry
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management and staff
  • Ability to effectively present information to executives
  • High level of initiative and ability to work independently under general direction
  • Proficient with MS-Office applications including MS-Project, Visio, Excel, Word, PowerPoint; proficiency with CAD a plus
  • Strong understanding of financial and budgeting processes
