We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as a Research Project Manager in our Research Operations Team. The successful candidate will support one or more Research Teams (RT) through the advancement of our exciting and expansive CAR T and TCR pipelines and next generation adaptive immunotherapy. The successful Research Project Manager, Kite Research Operations is responsible for supporting Research Team activities, including:
  • Support Research Team to develop Research strategy and plan (including pipeline planning and necessary scenario development, planning and analysis.
  • Provides functional project management support and facilitation to the research team.
  • Organizes and manages research project team meetings, ensuring timely, efficient, and action-oriented operations.
  • Works in partnership with project lead and functional leads, to develop, identify risks and opportunities, implement corrective actions and execute on the project plan and strategy.
  • Manages collaboration project and all associated interactions (e.g. meetings, communications etc.) with the collaboration partner.
  • Directs research project communications and ensures that all stakeholders (internally and externally) are fully informed and knowledgeable of project activities and their status.
  • Manages research project team through stage gate reviews toward milestone completion.
  • Along with the project lead, represents the research project team at research governance meetings for major strategic decisions.
  • Liaises with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g. Program Manager, CMC Program Manager, Alliance Manager, Legal and Regulatory representatives etc.) to execute on cross-functional deliverables and resolve issues.
  • Implements best-in-class project management processes and tools/templates such as project schedules, Gantt charts, action/decision logs, risk registers, SharePoint site etc.
  • Manage and track non-clinical and clinical study report deliverables for IND and BLA filings.
  • Support external Research collaborations project management activities.
  • Maintain SP site and documents associated with the RT.
  • Provide inputs on behalf of the RT for the LE process.
  • Assist Head of Research Operations on special projects.
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

In addition, the Research Project Manager may also contribute to Research Governance and Portfolio Management activities, such as

  • Prepare agenda, minutes, and action items for Research governance meetings
  • Maintain SP site and documents associate with Research governance
  • Provide training and communication of Research governance process
  • Manage Research governance calendars
  • Support Research portfolio reviews
  • Prepare routine and/or ad hoc project status/dashboard reports

  • 6+ years of relevant experience and a BA or BS or; 4+ years of relevant experience and a MS or MBA.
  • Relevant experience consists of work in a scientific field or equivalent experience in association with R&D project teams and/or in cross-functional project management activities. Prior experience in cellular therapy, synthetic biology, oncology research greatly preferred.
  • Must have extensive understanding of research and candidate identification process.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills along with ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate progress toward milestones, opportunities, and risks to all stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and Microsoft Project is required.
  • Must exhibit high emotional intelligence, with demonstrated ability to successfully negotiate through challenging situations and difficult conversations.
  • Possess a strong ability to build trust, along with demonstrated ability to drive, lead and influence colleagues across the organization to achieve department, operations teams, and corporate goals.
  • Be comfortable and efficient in a demanding, fast-paced, dynamic, often fluid environment.
