Summary: Responsible for the organization and oversight of daily operations of the department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Oversees the group in collaborative studies

• Improves manufacturing techniques by implementing new processes

• Supervises procedures and experiments

• Performs personnel management

• Selects methods and techniques for obtaining good scientific results

• Supports Process Analytical Technology (PAT) in developing new software and process modeling tools

• Conducts data analysis

• Schedules tasks for the department

• Participates in document writing

• Presents experimental results at department meetings

• Ensures safety standards are maintained

• Establishes and maintains cGMP activities

Knowledge and Skills:

• Ability to coordinate, organize and assign daily activities of operations

• Ability to motivate employees and build team morale

• Continuously drive to improve processes for improved performance

• Support employees, executing against established guidelines and common procedures and policies

• Ability to provide feedback and career counseling

Education and Experience:
Requires a BS/BA in Chemical Engineering, Computational Science, Life Sciences, or related field with 5+ years of relevant scientific industry experience or MS with 4+ years of relevant scientific industry experience or a PhD with 2+ years of relevant scientific industry experience.
Managerial experience is required.
Experience working in a purification sciences team, knowledge of protein separation techniques, experimental design and data analysis using advanced mathematical tools and advanced modeling techniques is strongly desired.
Experience leading and managing manufacturing investigations (EOE & DNF), technical and real time troubleshooting of the manufacturing operation, and monitoring of manufacturing data to ensure process consistency helpful.
