Amgen is seeking a talented Software Engineer to build cutting edge scientific applications with modern technology stacks that will be used by our clinical development partners to drive Amgen IS-innovation in drug development life-cycle. The Clinical Design and Analysis team supports Center for Observational Research globally with innovative IS and Data Science solutions to accelerate and grow Amgen pipeline of bio-pharmaceuticals. Our success in observational research is key in our commitment to our patients, to our business clients, and to leveraging superlative technologies that deliver critical business value. This Software Engineer position will report to the Principal IS Business Analyst, Clinical Design and Analysis supporting Development IS. The position is based at our new Amgen Capability Center in Tampa, FL

Job Responsibilities

Join our vivid Development IS team to deliver industry leading big data solutions by leveraging best practices in Agile and DevOps methodologies. Develop and build scalable data platforms and applications. Review functional and technical designs to identify areas of risk and/or missing requirements. Provide technical write-ups and drawings to promote the proposed solutions. Design and build per design patterns to be used for general re-use on multiple implementations. Collaborate with Data Engineers, Technical Architect, Business SME's, and Data Scientists to architect and design data products and services. Build data products and service processes which perform data transformation, metadata extraction, workload management and error processing management.

Basic Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Computer Science; Informations Systems or related field
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and 2 years of experience
  • Associate degree in Computer Science or related field and 6 years of experience
  • High School Diploma / GED and 8 years of related Computer Science experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with Python, Java, as well as DevOps (Jenkins, JIRA, Github) frameworks working in a collaborative team environment
  • Hands-on experience working with technologies like Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Oozie, Map Reduce, Spark, Sqoop, Kafka, Flume, etc.
  • Experience building and deploying infrastructure with cloud deployment technologies like ansible, chef, puppet, etc.
  • First hand technical expertise in a variety of configuration management and big data cloud technologies especially AWS and the proven ability to fashion robust scalable solutions that can manage large data sets.
  • Integrate the real-world data platform with the Data Science workbench, the Data Marketplace, and Analytic Tools such as SAS, Tableau, Spotfire, R, etc.
  • Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
  • Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
