Summary:

Works as a liaison between customers and the project teams using customer input and experience to design, develop, implement and maintain complex system frameworks. Subject matter expert on IT systems, electrical systems, lighting design, and understands fundamentals of HVAC, plumbing, and building automation. The position provides specialized engineering support services to PMPD, BAS, IT, & Vivarium groups. Provides guidance and knowledge source for the engineering and maintenance staff on design, operation and monitoring of existing systems, lab equipment installation/relocation, robot installation and exhausting, data center / IDF operation / structured cabling installation. Direct reporting structure is a simple structure. (i.e. Direct reports do not manage personnel or contract employees.)

Responsibilities:

• Works with Engineering to develop site infrastructure design and provides suggestion for the selection, installation, & commissioning of Research and Facilities systems.

• Assist with the management of emergency generation design, installation, and maintenance.

• Coordinates third party work regarding the operation and maintenance of CRAC units and UPS systems throughout the Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow, and Basking Ridge locations in support of IT system needs.

• Participate in annual BSL3 lab commissioning process.

• Provides design review for IT structured cabling routing, specification, and installation as well as IDF PDU distribution for projects as required.

• Provide daily engineering oversight of projects, alterations, repairs, and installations.

• Create CAD plans for MEP design & engineering internally for Facilities Operations project work and reviews these documents from third party contractors in support of the Facilities project management group.

• Work directly with hired MEP engineers, consultants, and contractors to answer questions, resolve issues and develop solutions and needed.

• Thoroughly review capital project MEP plans, creates sketches, suggest options, and provide engineering support to the Management and Project team as needed.

• Provide technical support and expertise to customers, installers and maintenance groups for CER process.

• Works with all relevant SOP's.

• Maintain customer service standards.

• Available 24/7 for assistance and emergency response.
Requirements:

• Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office applications (word, excel, outlook, power point, etc.)

• Adept in the use of mobile communication devices

• IWMS and BMS systems

• Exhibit excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Exhibit excellent organizational skills.

• Exhibit excellent judgment and decision-making skills.

• Ability to manage numerous tasks/projects simultaneously.

• Ability to work independently or with a group.

• Bachelor's degree or 8 years equivalent experience

Minimum Years of Experience: 8-10 years of experience in a Facilities Operations role.
