Summary: Responsible for advanced mathematical modeling and statistical treatment and analysis of cell culture manufacturing processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Develops mechanistic and first principles mathematical models for cell culture and downstream purification operations

• Applies advanced numerical and statistical techniques including multivariate analysis, time series analysis, and machine learning to analyze large datasets of process and raw materials data and generates predictive models to enhance process understanding.

• Identifies gaps in data and determines potential expansion of data sources

• Develops automated solutions that address specific analytical objectives and facilitate report generation and distribution of analyses.

• Uses statistical and quality engineering tools to support the process performance monitoring program and technical investigations.

• Issues technical reports summarizing conclusion of data analyses and recommendations for process improvements.

• Participates in cross functional teams to analyze data and develops strategies and solutions for data acquisition, aggregation and reporting.

• Presents findings at group and interdepartmental meetings.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Familiarity with large scale cell culture and purification processes

• Prior experience with analysis or modeling of large scale bioprocess is highly desirable

• Ability to analyze external and internal resources such as research papers, technical documents, development reports, etc. to generate new hypotheses

• Ability to work independently or as part of a team

• Ability to communicate with transparency

• Continuously drive to improve processes for improved performance

• Makes quality decisions with limited supervision

• Ability to write advanced reports

• May own or lead a project

• May mentor others and/or have direct reports

• Ability to work in an ever-changing environment

Education and Experience:

• Requires Ph.D. in science, engineering or related fields with experience in mathematical modeling of cell culture processes. PhD in Biochemical/chemical engineering degree is preferred.

• 0-5 years of work experience required.

*Level will be determined based on experience.
