Summary:
Utilizes subject matter expertise in area of specialization and leadership to initiate and execute research and development projects in drug development with minimal guidance. Has leadership capabilities and responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
  • May directly or indirectly lead, guide, and assist Research Associates in conducting research, analyzing results and documenting findings. Sets goals, assigns tasks, provides performance management and development.
  • Collaborates with other groups in planning and executing joint experiments.
  • Prepares and delivers effective oral presentations in area of expertise at internal and external professional meetings with minimal consultation with supervisor.
  • Shares cross-functional skills and knowledge at a wide variety of meetings.
  • Writes complete internal and/or external "publications" that require minimal revisions (i.e., Peer Reviewed publications, SOP's, Patents, Business Plans, etc.).
  • Responsible for maintaining scientifically current (state of the art) laboratory environment. Maintains accurate and complete records consistent with company policy and legal requirements.
  • Has cross-functional knowledge and skills and makes significant contributions within and outside his/her own functional area.
  • Trains cross-functionally in his/her scientific specialty.
  • Expert knowledge of research principles, theories, design and implementation. Demonstrates initiative and applies knowledge and experience to impact "project" direction. Reads and understands "project"-related literature beyond own specialty field. Begins to understand relationships among different fields as they apply to drug discovery.
  • Contributes to lab and equipment maintenance and safety to help create a safe, effective and efficient working environment. Anticipates and recognizes potential problems with laboratory supplies / equipment and takes action to prevent and solve problems

Requirements:

Education: A Ph.D. in protein biochemistry, or analytical biochemistry, or proteomics from an accredited college or
university.
Experience: Four or more years of relevant experience beyond Ph.D
