Amgen has an opportunity for a Media Director to be part of the newly created Center of Marketing Excellence. The Media Director will be the key driver of Media strategy for the purposes of omnichannel customer engagement. Specifically, they will translate data and insights to help realize moments of media receptivity across the customer journey. They will play a pivotal role in crafting and implementing a vision of what media strategy will look like for the US business brand marketing team. This position reports to the Director of Marketing Engagement.

Job responsibilities include:
  • Develop and elevate Amgen's capabilities around media strategy and build an ecosystem of media as a key aspect of differentiated engagement
  • Recommend growth plans that include any new areas/ideas that drive higher consumer interest based on understanding of customer journey, corresponding leverage and leaking points and map moments of media receptivity to prioritized leverage points
  • Media Planning; oversee development of end to end media plans, working with brands to refine the brief, comms teams to set the strategy, research teams to identify and apply learning, and media agencies to ensure flawless implementation; push team to elevate work and thinking beyond "the typical"
  • Overall responsibility to ensure the voice of customers and patient needs are being considered in choice of media channels.
  • Bring big consumer/cultural insights that drive bigger context strategies for client brands
  • Be the bridge between strong, conceptual thinking, and data-driven, analytical approaches to problem-solving
  • Team management; develop and nurture team members, support career path, create development plans, help through day to day challenges, and ensure teams progress appropriately; continually scout for strong talent who could become a potential team member
  • Understand and align brand needs and objectives with timely strategic media solutions
  • Use analytics and research to provide recommendations to brand teams on channel selection and channel mix
  • Track the measurement of asset content performance and recommend optimization of campaigns
  • Develop an environment of best practice sharing and standardization across brands
  • Some Travel Required

Basic Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree and 4 years of experience in a strategic marketing, planning, media/communication strategy role in a customer facing industry

  • Master's degree and 7 years of experience in a strategic marketing, planning, media/communication strategy role in a customer facing industry

  • Bachelor's degree and 9 years of experience in a strategic marketing, planning, media/communication strategy role in a customer facing industry

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to quickly consume large amount of data and draw insights that drive the business forward
  • Experience in pharma industry
  • Agency experience
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to craft a story and represent it to executives, team members, and outside agencies
  • Understand traditional media and be savvy in digital and new, innovative media opportunities. A positive attitude and innate curiosity with the world of media
  • Strong managerial skills with the ability to internally navigate complex organizations
  • Strong knowledge of social and digital media landscape
  • Skilled in handling multiple responsibilities, priorities, tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Experience managing outside vendors
  • Experience with creative advertising agencies, US market payor / access environment and relevant Amgen therapeutic knowledge
