Responsibilities

Doudna/Fellmann Lab Research Associate I

The Laboratories of Professors Jennifer Doudna and Christof Fellmann at the Gladstone Institutes in San Francisco invite applications for a Research Associate position. The labs are within the Gladstone Institute of Data Science and Biotechnology, and are focused on developing innovative CRISPR-Cas tools through a better molecular understanding of the vast CRISPR-Cas biodiversity, and applying these tools to overcome human disease by pioneering novel delivery and therapeutic approaches to tackle the Achilles heels of cancer and specific genetic disorders.

The Research Associate I will support projects to develop innovative CRISPR-Cas genome editing platforms for biomedical applications. Specifically, the research associate will assist with molecular cloning, flow cytometry, and mammalian tissue culture. This person should be passionate about participating in the basic discovery around biomedical applications of CRISPR-Cas genome editing, and should be familiar with standard molecular biology techniques including PCR, gel electrophoresis, western blot, microscopy, cell culture, etc. This research associate will be expected to perform experiments, interpret results, and provide project updates. An aptitude and drive to learn and perform molecular and cell biology experiments is essential.

Qualifications

Associate's degree and 2+ years relevant experience.

Bachelor's degree in a related field of study (e.g. Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Molecular Biology, or Genetics) and 0-2 years of research experience.
