We have pioneered five first-in-class oncology and hematology medicines including, Neupogen®, Nplate®, XGEVA®, BLINCYTO® and IMLYGIC®. We are building upon our solid oncology foundation and long-term commitment to patients by developing a whole new class of novel molecules - and we need top talent to ensure these molecules become medicines and realize their potential for helping patients.Today, Amgen is advancing the largest early Oncology pipeline in our history spanning several innovative technology platforms - Bispecific T Cell Engagers (BiTE®s), CAR Ts, Bispecific Antibodies, Oncolytic Viruses, Neoantigen Vaccine and Small Molecules - across many targets and more than a dozen tumor types. Over 13 assets in various Hematologic malignancies are being developed in the clinics (AML, MM, Lymphoma & ALL).

The Vice President, US Hematology Sales & Marketing, is a critical leadership role that will have a significant impact on the company. This position is unique because the Vice President is responsible for providing commercial leadership and influencing key decisions for products at all stages of the product lifecycle and is accountable for maximizing the value of the therapeutic area franchise. This will require an unusual mix of commercial experience, strategic skills, operating capabilities and market knowledge.

The Vice President is responsible for leading a team of professionals, managing the hematology marketing budget, and achieving organizational focus on strategic priorities.

The Vice President position is complex and demanding, and requires a strong leader with diverse experience, broad capabilities, superior cross-functional collaboration skills, exceptional commercial acumen, the ability to operate globally and locally, and very strong influencing skills. Success in this critical and highly visible role will undoubtedly result in rapid professional growth and advancement at Amgen.

Key responsibilities of the position include:
  • Lead Sales & Marketing teams for in-line brands (Kyprolis, Blincyto) and pipeline assets aligned to Multiple Myeloma and Leukemia through setting challenging strategic objectives based on deep insights and ensuring tactical execution to achieve revenue goals.
  • Enhance commercial capabilities, ensure alignment with company strategy, focus resources on key priorities, manage within budget and achieve commercial objectives.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to achieve a common vision, develop a winning commercial strategy, and build the commercial capabilities needed to maximize the long-term value of Amgen's hematology assets.
  • Establish a strong partnership with our Global Marketing colleagues and clinical development counterparts to develop life-cycle management plans for our in-line brands and launch plans for our early oncology pipeline assets.
  • Be an active participant in the US Oncology Leadership Team and help lead, coach, and developing sales and marketing talent.
  • Fully embrace Amgen's culture. Serve as a role model for colleagues by operating in a mature and professional manner, employing emotional intelligence, and consistently demonstrating Amgen's values.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Doctorate degree & 8 years of marketing experience OR
  • Master's degree & 10 years of marketing experience OR
  • Bachelor's degree & 12 years of marketing experience AND
  • 8 years of direct managerial experience. Previous experience managing other managers.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Candidates for this position will have 15 or more years of experience and a track record of success in a series of commercial leadership roles of increasing scope and scale, with leading companies in the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • This position is responsible for providing commercial leadership for products at all stages of the product lifecycle. Therefore, candidates must have a unique breadth of capabilities and experience in global commercial operations, new product development and business development.
  • Possesses exceptional commercial acumen and superior strategic marketing skills. Has experience developing and implementing successful global marketing strategies for major products and franchises. Has extensive product launch experience, successfully built global brands, and consistently achieved growth and market share objectives.
  • Experience leading substantial commercial organizations responsible for multiple products and operating in multiple geographies. Demonstrated success managing a business unit with a significant P&L, achieving growth objectives and delivering targeted profit contribution.
  • Experience supporting new product development. Has worked with cross-functional teams, provided commercial input and advice, evaluated target profiles and clinical development plans, and made recommendations that enhanced long-term commercial value.
  • Operational experience as a country or business unit General Manager with responsibility for P&L.
  • Significant depth and expertise in hematology. Has experience with therapeutics at all stages of the product lifecycle. Knows the science, clinical practices, competitive dynamics and evolving trends in the US market.
  • Demonstrated success in recruiting, developing, mentoring and motivating talented executives with high potential. Known for building high performance teams. Has a track record of delivering results and achieving objectives.
  • Has experience managing projects involving multiple functions and shared accountabilities and has built strong and highly collaborative relationships with colleagues. Understands the needs of various functions, values their input and communicates effectively. Views issues from multiple perspectives, is willing to compromise to achieve objectives, and is adept at resolving conflicts.
  • Has experience interacting with senior executives and remains professional and respectful in all situations. Develops and delivers concise and well supported briefings. Possesses the knowledge, credibility and maturity to influence senior management.
  • Has an outstanding reputation in the hematology market and a strong professional network. Has shown the ability to build relationships with Key Opinion Leaders in the US market
  • An undergraduate degree (in a relevant disciple such as science, marketing or finance), is required. An advanced degree, such as an MBA, is strongly preferred.
