AveXis, a Novartis company, is dedicated to developing and commercializing novel treatments for patients suffering from rare and life-threatening neurological genetic diseases. Our initial product is a proprietary gene therapy approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of pediatric patients with SMA. In addition to developing a treatment for SMA, AveXis also plans to develop other novel treatments for rare neurological diseases, including Rett syndrome and a genetic form of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis caused by mutations in the superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) gene.

The Senior Manager, Global Medical Communications will ensure that medical and scientific data are communicated in an accurate, timely, compliant and compelling manner. The position will support the medical review of promotional and non-promotional materials and resources for external and internal use. The position also includes the review of internal medical and field medical team content for medical meetings/symposia and will be responsible for managing the process of ensuring medical, legal and compliance review of all developed materials. The successful candidate will support the medical review to support the launch of AVXS-101.

Responsibilities

  • Manage medical review and concept approval of global and US scientific, commercial and educational materials, including advertising and promotional and medical scientific exchange materials.
  • Provide medical expertise and knowledge to support the development of medical/scientific and promotional materials for a successful AVXS-101 product launch.
  • Provide medical advice and review for new initiatives and project concepts to ensure medical accuracy and alignment with the medical strategy.
  • Support the Global Medical Communications lead on the execution of key medical communication deliverables and activities related to congresses, symposia, and medical education.
  • Interface and effectively collaborate with external stakeholders and internal cross-functional teams including commercial team, regulatory affairs, medical affairs teams, clinical research, clinical operations, legal and compliance to ensure accurate and timely review of scientific materials.
  • Participate in relevant cross-functional teams and task forces to represent the Global Medical Communications team.


Qualifications

  • Advanced degree, (MD, PhD, or PharmD) with minimum of 3 years within bio-pharmaceutical industry required.
  • Experience in Global and U.S. focused medical affairs role focused on rare disease and product launch.
  • Experienced in working with the VEEVA Vault (PromoMats and MedComms Vault) platform.
  • Deep understanding of the strategic role that medical communications serves to support AveXis education and communication priorities and requirements.
  • Ability to work on several projects at once while balancing multiple and overlapping timelines.
  • Successful track record of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and ability to complete writing assignments in a timely manner with minimal oversight.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
