Research Associate - Associate Scientist: Cell Biology, Screening

Precision IBD is focused on the discovery and development of therapeutics and companion diagnostics for IBD using a precision medicine approach.  With an integrated, multi-platform strategy we are able to identify dominant pathways in the pathogenesis of IBD.  To date this work has led to the identification of several new potential targets and drug candidates for the treatment of IBD.

Job Description:  We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Research Associate or Associate Scientist (title to reflect experience) with strong cell culture experience to conduct weekly drug candidate screening in cell-based assays to support studies leading to the identification of new therapies for IBD.  The ideal candidate is an individual that enjoys the fast-paced and dynamic environment of a startup with the demonstrated ability to follow established protocols for critical, routine assays.

  • Conduct routine weekly compound screening for various cell-based assays in a 384-well format
  • Analyze screening data and upload results into database
  • Maintain multiple cell lines in culture
  • Perform routine ELISAs for biomarker and cytokine endpoint readouts
  • Keep meticulous records and maintain ELN entries
  • Act as a resource for other scientists in the group

  • B.S. degree in a biological science required
  • 3 – 6 years’ research experience, preferably in an industry setting required
  • Strong cell culture skills are essential
  • Prior experience with GPCR screening assays preferred
  • Prior small molecule screening experience in plate-based assays using liquid handling / automation preferred (384-well)
  • Proficiency in data analysis using Excel and Prism (GraphPad) desired
  • Prior experience with flow cytometry, ELISAs, western blot, and antibody-based therapeutics a plus
