Job Details

This is a field-based Cardiovascular Regional Medical Liaison (CV RML) director position within the US Medical team. This position is responsible for managing a team of field-based Regional Medical Liaisons in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. Accountabilities and Responsibilities for the CV RML Director include

Accountabilities
  • Field-based medical expert leading a team of Regional Medical Liaisons (RMLs) within US Medical responsible for managing/coaching a group of RMLs
  • An integral US Medical position ensuring that field-based RMLs provide accurate, clear, and valued information regarding our science and products to multiple levels within the medical community
  • Ensures that RMLs support annual goals and execute the Scientific Engagement Plan (SEP)
  • Responsible for providing field observations to Amgen internal stakeholders


Responsibilities
  • Manage RML team responsibilities of conducting scientific engagement and responding to unsolicited requests for information regarding Amgen products and pipeline molecules
  • Educate and communicate clinical value, outcomes, and economic data to payers, providers, key stakeholders, advocacy, and access enablers
  • Align with RML/Medical leadership to develop RML strategies and tactics in support of TA products and pipeline molecules
  • Observe field interactions, coach, mentor, and support development of direct reports
  • Clearly communicate regional RML guidance, direction, and expectations to the field per the scientific engagement plan
  • Champion RML initiatives and ideas from the field to the home office including Medical and Development functions
  • Ensure RML field team supports Amgen-sponsored research and clinical trial site involvement as determined by TA RML Head and Global Development Operations
  • Assist with oversight of field RML support for real-world evidence partnerships and quality improvement opportunities with healthcare stakeholders
  • Allocate team resources consistent with priorities
  • Advise on TA RML team sizing, time allocation, and reporting structures
  • Represent Amgen by supporting advisory boards, congresses, and professional association meetings
  • Foster compliant cross-functional collaboration and communication with commercial and value/access field management

Basic Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree and 4 years of Regional Medical Liaison experience
  • 4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources


Preferred Qualifications
  • Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D. or D.O. (other doctoral degrees considered)
  • Seven years of industry experience in Scientific/Medical Affairs at a biotech or pharmaceutical company
  • At least three years in a medical science liaison role
  • Seven or more years focused on clinical practice, clinical research, or medical research. Experience in a medically-related field can include post-doctoral training (i.e., residencies and/or fellowships)
  • Three years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
  • CV expertise (lipids, heart failure)
