Summary
We are seeking scientist candidates with Ph.D. degrees to join the Analytical Chemistry Group of Regeneron Pharmaceutical Inc. located at Tarrytown, NY. The successful candidate will be working in a state-of-the-art mass spectrometry lab and developing top-down and bottom-up mass spectrometry analytical methods for therapeutic protein product analysis. The individual will lead the efforts on the biochemical characterization of therapeutic protein at all stages of development, providing high quality analytical characterization data for regulatory submissions. The individual will also lead the activities of developing innovative mass spectrometry technologies to support Regeneron's upstream R&D programs.

Responsibilities
  • Leads the development activities with a focus on developing top-down and/or bottom-up mass spectrometry analytical methods to support the characterization of therapeutic protein drug candidates.
  • Serves as a team representative in drug candidate-specific development team meetings, and shares knowledge and expertise of analytics development at cross-function team meetings.
  • Independently designs and conducts analytical experiments on therapeutic proteins characterization and analyzes mass spectrometry data to elucidate the quality attributes of therapeutic protein candidates and/or products; conducts analytical methods qualification to support the late-stage therapeutic protein development programs.
  • Documents experiments, results and findings in laboratory notebook; presents work at the group and department meetings; drafts SOPs, memos, development reports, and regulatory submission documents and peer-reviewed articles for publications.
  • Provides analytical support for both upstream and downstream functional groups and helps to solve realtime development problems.
  • May directly or indirectly lead, guide, and assist Research Associates in conducting research and developmental work, investigating and solving developmental problems. Sets goals, assigns tasks, provides performance management and development as needed.
  • Participates in the general lab and instrument maintenance.


Experience and Required Skills:
Requirements
  • PhD with 0-2 years of experience
  • PhD in chemistry, or biochemistry or proteomics with at least 2 years post-doctoral training in a mass spectrometry-oriented lab and also with proven track record of publications in the field.
  • Expertise in mass spectrometry principles and applications for protein characterization, with keen analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Extensive hand-on experiences and trouble-shooting proficiency on separation science (e.g. UPLC, nanoUPLC), and mass spectrometry technologies especially L TQ-OrbiTrap, Q
  • Exactive MS, Q-TOF and/or triple-quadruple MS systems.
  • Experience in HDX-MS or Host Cell Protein analysis is a plus.
  • Proficiency in mass spectrometry related software, such as Xcalibur, MassLynx, MassHunter, Proteome Discoverer, Mascot, Empower, ChemStation, etc. Abilities in computer programming a plus.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Enthusiasm in science with a motivation of making contributions in a team environment.
