The Oncology and Angiogenesis group is seeking a highly motivated R&D Associate to temporarily (12 months) assist with various aspects of research. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in tumor mouse models (xenograft and orthotopic). More specifically, experience with various aspects of tumor mouse models (injections, tumor cell implantation, tissue harvest, drug administration via various routes (iv, ip, sc), minor surgeries and necropsy) and expertise in cell culture (maintainance as well as cell based assays) is required. Experience with PDX models, a high level of technical expertise, such as confocal microscopy, and expertise with in vivo imaging modalities, such as micro-ultrasound, a plus. The candidate should be able to independently execute experiments and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to work effectively in a team, ability to independently follow verbal and written instructions, good organizational and interpersonal skills, basic computer skills are a must.


Essential Functions required for the job. List both technical and managerial requirements if applicable.

• tail vein, sc, ip, im injections

• tumor cell implantation and monitoring of tumor bearing mice

• Administration of different drugs in tumor bearing animals

• minor surgeries and necropsy

• tissue harvest

• tissue culture and cell based assays

• assisting with micro-ultrasound and other in vivo imaging techniques

• data analysis

This position requires a minimum of a BS/BA/MA in biomedical sciences, 2-5 years of experience working with in vivo tumor models, specifically:
- in vivo mouse experience
- experience with various mouse tumor models including solid PDX
- experience in tissue processing, sectioning and histology/IHC
- outstanding organizational skils
- good communication skills
- efficiently work in a team
- ability to independently follow verbal and written instructions
- good interpersonal skills
- basic computer skills
