Job Details

Known for its scientific and operational excellence, Regeneron is a leading science-based biopharmaceutical company that discovers, invents, develops, manufactures, and commercializes medicines for the treatment of serious medical conditions. Regeneron commercializes medicines for eye diseases, high LDL-cholesterol, atopic dermatitis and a rare inflammatory condition and has product candidates in development in other areas of high unmet medical need, including rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, pain, cancer and infectious diseases.

The successful candidate will work with the Imaging team's Lead MRI Scientist to execute preclinical MRI studies of rodent models in collaboration with various therapeutic focus areas, technology teams, and imaging scientists at Regeneron. This will involve coordinating with scientists for experimental design, preparation of animals for imaging sessions, acquisition of MR images using the 7T Bruker BioSpin system, and ultimately ensuring the MRI data are relevant, actionable, and of high quality. These data and subsequent derived results will be packaged for communication to Regeneron's diverse scientific community. Finally, the candidate will collaborate with imaging and therapeutic scientists to optimize and develop MRI protocols for a variety of new MRI techniques and animal models.

Responsibilities:

1. Working closely with the Lead MRI Scientist to understand project needs and priorities, troubleshooting experiments, and providing updates on the progress of projects

2. Independent execution of projects planned in consultation with the Lead MRI Scientist and in collaboration with scientists and specialists in Imaging and relevant therapeutic focus areas

3. Operation and optimization of the high field strength MRI for in vivo and ex vivo studies of preclinical rodent models, including critical evaluation of data acquisition

4. Relevant animal handling such as administration of anesthesia and preparing animals for scanning, administration of contrast agents, animal monitoring, and preparation of tissue for ex vivo imaging

5. Maintaining online and physical records of the data from ongoing and completed projects

1. B.S. or MSc in Engineering, Biophysics, Biology, Chemistry or similar

2. 2+ years experience operating in vivo rodent MRI and 3+ years in vivo mouse/rat handling including anesthesia, injections, and euthanasia. Experience with other in vivo imaging modalities such as PET/CT, ultrasound, microCT or bioluminescence preferred.

3. Prior experience with 3D MRI visualization software such as Display, ITKsnap, Amira, OCCIviewer, VivoQuant, or iPACS

4. Knowledge of basic MRI science and ability to communicate this to a general audience

5. Prior experience with Bruker ParaVision software, pulse sequence optimization, cardiac, respiratory, or functional gating or triggering techniques, and MRI processing software (Tarquin, LCModel, Pydpiper, FID-A, FSL, etc.) is preferred

6. Exceptional critical thinking, attention to detail, scientific rigor, and strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills

7. Ability to shift focus between multiple projects while still meeting deadlines

8. A proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a larger project

9. A positive attitude and willingness to learn new things

10. A passion for biology and helping others

11. A dedication to share, collaborate, and lift up others
