Position: Senior Research Scientist/Associate (ref.#1215)
Location: 700 Bay Road, Redwood City, CA 94063
Duties: Establish, validate, and conduct cell-based immunoassays, including complex cell mixtures to generate decisional data on therapeutic candidates and to generate mechanism of action data for these candidates by using advanced understanding of immunological concepts and techniques; advanced knowledge in flow cytometry techniques to independently design, run and analyze complex, multi-color flow cytometry experiments (up to 25 colors); experience in processing both human and mouse tissues (blood, tumor, LN, spleen, liver); experience with immune cell-based assays, including complex cell mixtures, relevant to drug discovery (proliferation, cytotoxicity, cytokine analysis by MSD and ELISA); and proficiency in scientific and data analysis programs, including, FlowJo, GraphPad Prism, Spotfire, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint. Design, coordinate, and analyze complex studies using animal tumor models to evaluate efficacy of therapeutic candidates and to contribute to mechanism of action data. Perform immunophenotyping of human (from primary human tumor and normal tissue) and mouse immune cells (from mouse tumor models and mouse tissue) by multi-parameter flow cytometry to understand the mechanism of action of therapeutic candidates. Work independently to plan studies, generate data, and analyze and present these data at team meetings.
Requirements: Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Medical Biotechnology, Biotechnology, Immunology or a related field plus 4 years of post-baccalaureate experience reflecting the demonstrable ability in the skill set described above. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Medical Biotechnology, Biotechnology, Immunology or a related field plus 6 years of post-baccalaureate experience reflecting the demonstrable ability in the skill set described above.
