The Manger, Field Tools is responsible for creating strategy around digital field tools, providing direction, and overseeing operational processes and resources that enable the field sales force to be more effective and efficient. This position leads industry best practices and benchmarking for digital sales force technology solutions. This position works with sales and marketing management across all sales franchises to recommend and incorporate best practice initiatives, processes, and plans of action with the goal to improve overall sales force productivity using digital technology .

The Manager, Field Tools should be flexible to independently manage large scale initiatives and develop positive working relationships in a team-based environment. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with strong project management aptitude and ability to analyze and resolve operational tasks in a timely manner are fundamental to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategically plan new development and maintenance of existing field tools
    • Responsible for maintaining day to day operations of existing field tools, including managing key initiatives, new enhancements and vendor management
    • Consistent focus on the user interface and overall emphasis in streamlined User Experience
    • Strong partnership with Business Technology Services (BTS) in overseeing the complete product development life cycle
    • Show prominence in reductive mindset in trying to consolidate existing tools to provide seamless user experience to the end users
  • Launch Future Fit capabilities in digital field tools to reduce field burden
    • Represent sales operations by providing insights and expertise on newer capabilities that enhances an overall experience of digital tools, delivers impact to the sales force
    • Key driver in strategizing implementation, which would include planning with the enterprise team, designing and testing with BTS and training the sales force
    • Maintain governance on newer features to comply with brand strategy and avoid disturbance in the field
    • At the enterprise level, work with legal and office of ethics to solidify agreement and stay compliant to avoid setbacks
  • Manage expectations through building relationships and demonstrating awareness
    • Present key project and deliverable to executive level management
    • Administer sessions such as focus groups and ride-along immersions with sales forces in the field to gather valuable feedback and insight
    • Run weekly and/or monthly core meetings of large audience to provide updates and collaborate with cross functional teams to gain consensus
    • Facilitate usability testing and interview sessions with end-users to enhance the user experience of field tools


Bachelor's degree required with 7+ years of equivalent work experience in sales, sales operations, information technology and technology, with emphasis on applying business concepts in healthcare, the pharmaceutical arena or other highly regulated industry. Experience in launching new digital capabilities, showcasing importance of user experience and deploying effective systems. Comfort in analytics.

  • Experience and comfort in vendor management, including the ability to delegate responsibility and prioritize projects
  • Experience with digital strategy and tools such as interactive sales aids, omnichannel sales and marketing
  • Familiarity with CRM and Qlik Business Insights applications
  • Understanding of ways to analyze metrics and benchmark best practices
  • Outside the box thinking of embracing new ideas and having an innovative mindset
  • Master's degree in business or science
